LG is reportedly developing a dual-screen handset with a swivelling display

A mockup of how the “Wing” phone’s screen could rotate to reveal a second. | Image: ETNews

LG has a new dual-screen phone on the way, with a main display that swivels sideways to reveal a secondary screen underneath, the Korean Herald reports. The phone, which ETNews reports is codenamed “Wing,” will reportedly have a main 6.8-inch display alongside a smaller 4-inch screen with a 1:1 aspect ratio. It’s expected to cost a bit more than the new Velvet phone when it arrives later this year.

This wouldn’t be the first swivel phone that LG has released. Over a decade ago it released several phones using this form-factor, including the LB1500 and LU1400. In addition to their rotating displays, the other major selling point of these “DMB phones” was that they had the hardware to receive digital TV broadcasts. Unsurprisingly the...

Hackers are impersonating Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet for phishing scams

Hacker (STOCK)

Hackers have registered domains posing as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet-related URLs, according to a new report from Check Point Research. As significantly more people are using these videoconferencing services during the COVID-19 pandemic, the domains could be used to pose as official links, potentially tricking people into downloading malware or accidentally giving a bad actor access to personal information.

In just the last three weeks, for example, 2,449 Zoom-related domains have been registered, and Check Point Research determined that 32 of those domains are malicious and 320 are “suspicious.” And in one instance of attempted phishing, hackers sent an email that looks like an official email from Microsoft Teams, but a...

How the “Plandemic” video hoax went viral

Illustration by Grayson Blackmon and Alex Castro / The Verge

Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, the big social platforms have generally been quicker than usual to intervene in the spread of misinformation. We’ve seen Facebook, Google, and Twitter add various labels, warnings, and links to high-quality news sources and public health organizations. And for the most part, the dumbest theories about the novel coronavirus have not reached huge scale — unless the theory was suggested by the president of the United States, in which case, well.

But some cracks are beginning to show. In February, a set of bizarre and almost incomprehensible theories began to spread on YouTube and Facebook alleging that 5G cellular networks had played a role in spreading the virus. And last week, we saw the emergence of...

Logitech’s sales boom as people outfit their home offices

Sales of Logitech’s keyboards, PC webcams, tablets, and video collaboration products are booming as a result of shelter-in-place orders during the pandemic, the company is reporting. Demand for the financial quarter ending in March was driven by people setting up home offices, doctors adopting telemedicine, and teachers using video calls for distance learning, it says. Meanwhile, sales of its gaming peripherals also increased as people tried to keep themselves entertained at home.

Sales of video collaboration products, which Reuters notes includes cameras, microphones, and software that allows for online meetings, increased by 60 percent compared to the same period last year, while keyboards, PC webcams, tablets, and accessories all saw...

The broadcaster of the world’s longest-running cartoon has said it will have to switch to reruns from next week due to disruption to production caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Based on a manga series by Machiko Hasegawa, Sazae-san is one of the longest-running TV shows in history, with more than 2,500 episodes — each consisting of three separate stories. Watch: First Angry Asian Murder Hornets Trailer Promises Campy Fun

As if knowing it existed wasn’t enough, we now have our first look at the absolutely bonkers B-movie, Angry Asian Murder Hornets, in its first trailer that aims to ensure that 2020 couldn’t get any weirder.

Angry Asian Murder Hornets tells the story of a Californian anthropologist who is desperately attempting to find a way to fight back an invasion of mutated, ridiculously massive murder hornets attacking the population. If it sounds completely wacky, that’s because it absolutely is completely wacky. And as you can tell by the trailer, viewers can expect nothing less than the goofiest, most asinine film since Sharknado – which may very well sound like an exceptionally fun time for those with a love of campy, outrageous B-movies.

The film is nothing if not timely, releasing not long after the very real Asian giant hornet was first spotted in Washington, having migrated somehow from its original home of Asia. Better know as the “murder hornet,” Asian giant hornets are a species of very large flying insects native to Asia. Not only can these monstrosities wipe out a beehive at an alarming speed and kill around 5 bees per minute each, but they’re also responsible for over 50 human deaths a year in Japan. Yikes.

Murder Hornets

Asian giant hornets were first spotted in Washington at the tail end of 2019, but they’re now multiplying in the state and expanding their territory, meaning that if the government doesn’t succeed in eradicating all of them, it could have dire consequences for our bee population. And that’s before considering the threat these giant bugs could pose to humans across the US.

Angry Asian Murder Hornets is directed by Dustin Freguson and Erik Anthony Russo and stars Shawn C. Phillips, Jarad Allen, Sheri Davis, and John R. Walker. It’ll be released via SCS Entertainment on June 1st, 2020 exclusively on demand.

Neve Campbell Says Scream 5 Talks Are Still Up In The Air

Scream fans started celebrating last week when franchise star Neve Campbell revealed that she’s in talks to return once again as Sidney Prescott in Scream 5The meta horror saga has been dormant on the big screen since 2011’s Scream 4, with legendary director Wes Craven sadly passing away in the meantime, but it’s being resurrected with Ready or Not filmmakers Matt Betinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett set to helm.

Clearly, the plan is to get Campbell back, then, but the actress’ latest comments have warned us that we might want to hold off on the celebrations for now. While speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Campbell noted that for a long time she thought it would “just be too odd to do a movie without Wes,” saying that she felt unsure whether she would want to. However, she started to entertain the idea when the two new directors sent her “this really, really respectful letter.”

“They came to me with Scream 5, and these directors are incredibly talented. They wrote a letter honoring Wes in such a beautiful way, and they expressed that the reason they make horror movies is because of Wes and the Scream films. They also expressed how blown away they are at the idea of actually getting an opportunity to make one of them and how much they want to honor and respect Wes’ vision. It was just beautiful, and I was really grateful.”

That said, Campbell went on to stress that negotiations are still only in the opening stages, so it’s by no means a done deal that she’ll return a fifth time. It’s not even just the discussions that could create a hitch, as the COVID-19 outbreak has thrown the film industry into turmoil.

“I had really thought that the only way I’d step into a new project with new directors is if they really wanted to honor him. So, we’ll see. We’re just in the beginning phases of negotiations, and we’ll have to see where it goes with COVID and everything. There are a lot of things up in the air such as when we’ll actually get to make the movie and how we can even reenter this business at the moment.”

So, it’s all unclear at present, but assuming that Scream 5 is able to go ahead, then it looks like we can be cautiously optimistic that Campbell will be back to face off against Ghostface as Sidney once again. She certainly seems to be impressed with Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett and interested in working with them, so that’s a big plus. No fan wants a Scream movie without Campbell, either, so fingers crossed everything works out.

Netflix Added 3 New Movies And 2 New TV Shows Today

Netflix has had a very big couple of months, with the streaming site bringing us tons of original shows, movies and, of course, a lot of beloved films and TV series from across various decades and genres. Without a doubt though, the biggest hit for them recently has been Extraction (you can catch a taste of what it has to offer via the clip above), but even if you’ve already watched it several times (like we have), there’s still tons to dig into.

Case in point: Today has seen yet another content drop that’s brought with it 3 new movies and 2 new TV shows. Admittedly, it’s not the most exciting offering we’ve had in recent weeks, but hey, the very fact that Netflix is adding new titles on a daily basis is something that should be applauded.

So, without further ado, here’s what arrived earlier today:

3 New Movies Added

  • Action Replayy (2010)
  • Andaz Apna Apna (1994)
  • Have a Good Trip: Adventures in Psychedelics (2020) Netflix Original

2 New TV Series Added

  • Bordertown (Season 3) Netflix Original
  • Trial By Media (Season 1) Netflix Original

Bordertown

So, that’s what we got. A fairly skimpy offering, but it’s hard to complain when we’ve had so much great content lately. And so much great content still to come, too.

Indeed, later this week we’ll be seeing District 9Public EnemiesUnited 93 and more. Not to mention everything that’s already hit the platform since May began (see: Back to the FutureAce Ventura: Pet Detective, JarheadUnderworld, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and many, many others).

Clearly, Netflix is doing their best to keep us all entertained throughout these tough months and with a seemingly never-ending stream of new content, there should be something for everyone on the platform by this point. But tell us, what will you be streaming this week? Take to the comments section down below and share your picks.

Slack announced a redesigned iPhone app with a new navigation bar at the bottom of the app in update notes today. However, it seems the redesign is still rolling out, even if you’ve updated to the latest version of the app — myself and another Verge colleague don’t have it yet, for example.

The new look appears to bring the iPhone app in line with the Android redesign that rolled out on May 5th. “Previously, it was complicated to get to the four main things people do on mobile,” Slack said in the App Store update notes. “We’ve fixed this with a new nifty navigation bar at the bottom of the app containing: a Home view for your sidebar, DMs, (still listed most recent first), Mentions (for quickly catching up), and You (because you’re...
