New Sonic The Hedgehog Trailer Introduces Baby Sonic

Sega’s blue-skinned icon has been running circles around the gaming world at blistering speed for decades now, earning himself a legion of dedicated fans in the process. So dedicated, in fact, that the collective uproar over Sonic’s design for his upcoming feature film from Paramount led to the studio delaying the movie and fast-tracking a redesign that stayed more true to his original appearance. Now, million dollars and many sleepless nights later, the iconic speedster looks a lot more like his usual self.

Indeed, you’d be hard-pressed to find a character more immediately recognizable than Sonic The Hedgehog, but just wait till you get a look at Baby Sonic. Yes, this new TV spot for the movie introduces us to possibly the cutest little thing since Baby Yoda swept the internet.

Sure, it might not be in English, but you don’t need to understand what’s being said here to realize that Baby Sonic is absolutely adorable. And understandably, folks on social media are already going crazy for him. In fact, we imagine it’s just a matter of time now before Sega announces some plush toys.

But while cute looking characters are great and all, can we count on the film itself being any good? That remains to be seen, but at the very least, it looks like it’ll be easy on the eyes. Unlike that first trailer which gave us all nightmares.

Sonic The Hedgehog speeds into theaters on February 14th, 2020 and early reactions to test screenings seem to paint a promising picture. An awards darling this won’t be, but for a couple hours of fun, Jeff Fowler’s adaptation looks to be hitting all the right notes and we can’t wait for it to race into cinemas next year.

Frozen II Star Slams Cats, Says She’s Speechless At How Bad It Is

If the movie Cats had 9 lives, it’s probably lost almost all of them by this point. The big screen adaptation of the beloved Broadway musical pulled in a measly $6.5 million against a budget of nearly $100 million over its opening weekend and its current score on Rotten Tomatoes is 18% at the time of writing. Ouch!

Any semblance of life for Cats is all but gone, then, but the internet continues to pile on the hate, refusing to leave the poor movie alone. The latest big name to speak up is Frozen II and Westworld star Evan Rachel Wood, who tore into Cats earlier today on social media. In a now-deleted Tweet, she wrote:

“……..#cats is actually worse than I thought it would be, And I already thought it would be horrible. But….I am actually speechless. Why would you change the choreography? I…am SPEECHLESS,”

Refusing to let up, she continued to voice her thoughts on Instagram, telling her followers:

“I have to have an actual live reaction of this. What the f—, what the f—, what the f—? What? What? What… the f—? What the f—? Oh my god! They changed all the iconic choreography. Took out 70% of the main characters. Changed the plot. I grew up in theatre. I was married to a dancer. I have massive respect for what they do, which is why this was such a letdown and missed opportunity for that community.”

Harsh, but not unjustified. After all, Cats is a spectacular failure on every single level and will no doubt go down as a massive blunder on the CV of many esteemed talents. Don’t forget, “Academy Award winner Judi Dench, six-time Olivier Award winner Ian McKellen, Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson and four-time Grammy Award winner Taylor Swift” were all involved in the proejct, among many others.

And while Universal is now playing the desperation card, trying to convince audiences that Cats isn’t actually a bad movie and telling us that the critics are wrong, we’ve still yet to find one person who genuinely enjoyed this absolute mess of a film. But maybe you can prove otherwise.

Tell us, did you happen to dig the pic? Or did you think it was a complete trainwreck like almost everyone else who’s seen it? Sound off down below and let us know.

Rose Tico Fans Call Out Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker For Kelly Marie Tran’s Short Screen Time

In the lead-up to the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, director J.J. Abrams offered repeated hints that his film was going to serve as a “course correction” of sorts in the wake of 2017’s divisive The Last Jedi, and sure enough, once the Skywalker Saga finale reached theaters, the movie was every bit as apologetic as fans either dreaded or hoped.

We can see Abrams’ attempts to reach out to the detractors in the way his flick essentially undoes one of the boldest twists of The Last Jedi. But more controversial still is how the new movie reduces Rose Tico to a minor supporting player after her major role in the previous film.

After the release of The Last Jedi, actress Kelly Marie Tran was subject to vicious online abuse, ultimately prompting the star to seek therapy and leave social media with no intention of returning. With this backlash in mind, it feels like no coincidence that the theatrical cut of The Rise of Skywalker gives Rose just 76 seconds of screen time, and many fans have started accusing Abrams and Disney of pandering to the trolls and bullies who harassed their actress.

Now, with the trending hashtag #RoseTicoDeservedBetter, Twitter users are calling out the Mouse House for failing to stick up for Tran, with some even pushing for Rose to be given her own spinoff show:

While Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker may have been an attempt to reunite the fanbase by giving the detractors what they wanted, it seems that things are as tense as they’ve ever been, suggesting that the time is probably right for the franchise to take a break from the big screen.

Birds Of Prey’s Margot Robbie Explains Harley’s Break Up With Joker

Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn was one of the few aspects of David Ayer’s Suicide Squad that received anything resembling universal praise, with both critics and fans in agreement that the Australian actress’ performance was one of the movie’s undoubted highlights. The character proved so popular, in fact, that a spinoff was announced soon after, with Robbie also stepping into the role of producer on director Cathy Yan’s upcoming Birds of Prey.

While the movie will only tangentially link to the larger DCEU, there’s one major character that won’t feature in Birds of Prey, and that’s the Joker. The future of the Clown Prince of Crime is a little murky at the moment, with Jared Leto’s unpopular portrayal seemingly making him persona non grata with DC and Warner Bros., while Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck led the standalone Joker to billion-dollar success and a major awards season push.

In a recent interview, Robbie went into more detail about how Mr. J, or a lack thereof, factors into Birds of Prey. And the Academy Award nominee seems keen to explore what happens to a character like Harley Quinn without having the Joker constantly be at her side.

“The first film, her relationship with Joker always did confuse me the most. That was the thing that took me the longest to get my head around. In this film though, we’re exploring her not being with Joker. And I actually understand the break-up. That’s something I feel like everyone can kind of understand and relate to in some ways… I understand the motivation that spurred on that train of thought.”

With Birds of Prey set to be an R-rated caper with a talented ensemble cast, it isn’t as if the movie is going to exclusively focus on Harley’s relationship woes. Without the Joker though, she’s free to act of her own accord, which could be one of the driving forces of the entire narrative. However, Robbie did admit that the green-haired psycho will still hold some sort of power over her.

“I think something I explored a lot in Suicide Squad, the first film, was Harley’s co-dependence with the Joker. And obviously, he has a huge influence on her. But, obviously, she was very much in a relationship with him when we first saw Harley onscreen in Suicide Squad. And I did want to explore what is the version of Harley out of a relationship, and whether she’s out of a relationship on her own accord or he’s kind of kicked her to the curb. But it still affects her, but in a very different way. And I thought we’d see a very different facet of her personalities. Personalities, I would say. Because I would say she has multiple.”

Following some behind-the-scenes trouble, that saw John Wick’s Chad Stahelski direct extensive reshoots after the studio was reportedly unhappy with an early version of the movie, Birds of Prey has now won DC and Warner Bros. back over, with the latest installment in the resurgent DCEU being predicted by many to be one of 2020’s first breakout hits.
