Spider-Man: No Way Home IMAX Trailer Confirms Charlie Cox Doesn’t Appear

The Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer excited fans in so many ways, with one of the most unexpected being a shot of someone’s forearms. Due to the context of the clip they appeared in, many became convinced that this had to be Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock, with Daredevil himself cameoing in the movie as Peter Parker’s lawyer. Cox recently denied that those were his arms, however, and now he’s been proven right.

With Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings arriving in theaters this weekend, the IMAX version of the No Way Home trailer is playing in front of the latest Marvel movie. Due to the increased aspect ratio, this reveals the face belonging to the guy with the forearms and it’s clear that it’s not the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen. See for yourself via the tweet below:

As Twitter user @gymblonski77 goes on to point out in a follow-up tweet, the forearms man looks to be the same person as the detective who’s accusing Peter in the clip immediately preceding this shot. Fans had previously noticed that the “DODC” label on his jacket confirmed that he’s an officer for the Department of Damage Control, a governmental division set up by Tony Stark and S.H.I.E.L.D., as introduced in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Of course, just because we now know those forearms aren’t Cox’s, that doesn’t mean he can’t show up elsewhere in the movie. Again, the actor has denied that he filmed anything for the much-anticipated threequel, but in another interview he also played coy about the possibility, saying that he didn’t want to spoil anything – which obviously indicates that there is something to spoil in the first place.

So that’s one mystery demystified, but we’ve still got plenty more theorizing to do before Spider-Man: No Way Home finally reaches theaters on December 17th.

Shang-Chi Director Explains The Movie’s Mid-Credits Scene

Marvel Studios didn’t waste any time in confirming Simu Liu as an Avenger, with a promo video celebrating the Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings star as the newest member of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes arriving just 24 hours after the shared superhero universe’s 25th feature film installment hit theaters.

That’s a huge vote of confidence in both the actor and his franchise debut, and he even shares the screen with a couple of heavy hitters in the mid-credits scene. Shang-Chi and Awkwafina’s Katy discover that the Ten Rings have caught the attention of not just Doctor Strange’s associate Wong, but Captain Marvel and Bruce Banner as well.

In a new interview, director Destin Daniel Cretton broke down the first of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings‘ two stingers, and outlined his hopes for what it could mean for the future of the MCU.

“We talked about it being Brie, but we did not know that it could make plausible sense that Brie could be there. I mean, it obviously helps that we ended up landing on hologram versions of these characters so they can just step away and get back into whatever crazy stuff they’re dealing with. And I’m not even totally aware of what they’re dealing with. All I know is I pitch ideas, and the only time that ideas get kicked back is if it doesn’t make logical sense to other ideas that are percolating for those characters. In terms of what’s next, I know what’s on my mind is the same as what’s on everybody else’s mind. And hopefully, there’s an Avengers in the future, somewhere.”

Kevin Feige has hardly been shy in admitting that the Avengers will be assembled again, but few people were expecting Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings to come right out and confirm its title hero as a new addition to the roster. It looks as though the origins of the artifact, and the mysterious beacon they’re sending out, could be set to factor heavily into whatever the major storyline of Phase Four turns out to be.

Wong will return in both Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, so the connective tissue threaded from Shang-Chi throughout the upcoming slate of projects is already happening much faster than anticipated.

Eternals Star Angelina Jolie Explains Why She Joined The MCU

Angelina Jolie is one of the most popular, talented, decorated and successful performers of the 21st Century, having headlined a string of box office smash hits and amassed a trophy cabinet overflowing with accolades that includes an Academy Award and three Golden Globes, so she’s exactly the sort of presence that would draw the gaze of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Kevin Feige’s franchise is famed for casting major names in either supporting, mentor or villainous roles to complement an ensemble that typically features a mix of esteemed veterans and fast-rising stars, and you get the sneaking suspicion that Chloé Zhao’s Eternals may not have been the first time she was approached about boarding the MCU.

In a new interview, Jolie explained why she decided to throw her lot in with the biggest brand in the business, especially when Eternals marks just her sixth live-action film appearance in close to twelve years.

“This was the real reason I wanted to make the film. It was to be part of such a diverse family, and it really didn’t matter to me what the size of the role would be. What surprised me the most about joining the MCU and working with Chloé was how grounded she was. The first time the cast met, she was barefoot and sat on the floor. It was through this first meeting that we discovered that we perceived ourselves as geeks and misfits, so that connected us all and added another layer to the story of Eternals. It was our quirks and differences that became our superpowers. Chloé is the great equalizer. Even though this was a massive, star-studded cast she was working with, she treated us with the same amount of attention and care.”

It also helps that Jolie’s action hero credentials are second to none, with the 46 year-old well-versed in the art of onscreen hand-to-hand combat, green screens, visual effects and bombastic pyrotechnics. Fans have been going wild every time they catch a new glimpse of the actress’ Thena, and having cut her teeth on 2008’s Wanted, the Oscar winner’s long-awaited return to the comic book genre looks to be one of Eternals‘ major selling points as the marketing campaign kicks into high gear, with less than nine weeks to go until the cosmic epic arrives.

Shang-Chi Star Addresses Doctor Strange 2 Rumors

Everybody knows that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is all connected, but the mid-credits scene of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings still managed to take audiences by surprise. The rings themselves weren’t really explained in any great detail during the movie, but the first stinger hinted that they could end up being a pivotal part of Phase Four.

Simu Liu’s title hero and Awkwafina’s Katy are interrupted by Wong, who takes them through a portal to meet Captain Marvel and Bruce Banner. As it turns out, the Ten Rings are much older than anybody could have guessed and completely unknown in origin, while they’ve been sending out a hidden beacon to deep space.

It’s all very curious, especially when Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings doesn’t make any overt or explicit teases to future MCU projects. However, the presence of Wong has led to speculation that we could find out more about the artifact during Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which is just six months away from release.

In a new interview, Liu was asked directly about whether or not he’ll return in the Sorcerer Supreme’s sequel, and it turns out that the actor has already mastered the MCU’s signature method of skirting around potential spoilers.

“Man, you are good. You’re good, but unfortunately for you, I’m better! It was an extreme pleasure to be a part of the MCU, and if and when the call comes for me to return to the universe, I will be more than ready. But beyond that, I have no knowledge whatsoever of any of the future Marvel plans for this character or any other character.”

Based on the revolving door of rumors, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness already has roughly 300 cameos lined up, so dropping in a subplot directly tied to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings may or may not be in place. However, we do know that the MCU’s latest Avenger will almost certainly cross paths with Benedict Cumberbatch’s Master of the Mystic Arts one day in the not too distant future.
