Samsung heir Lee may be arrested soon on new corruption charges
Lee Jae-yong, Samsung Electronics vice chairman and the de facto leader of the Samsung Group conglomerate, may soon find himself back in jail. Prosecutors are seeking an arrest warrant against Lee, known as Jay Y. Lee in the West, arguing that he should be detained while they investigate new allegations against him.
The new legal controversy involves the 2015 merger of two Samsung Group companies, Cheil Industries and Samsung C&T. Lee is accused of accounting fraud that allegedly could have helped him gain more power over the sprawling chaebol. Samsung last week said it was “beyond common sense” to suggest that Lee was directly involved, according to Reuters.

Space Jam’s Bill Murray Says He Never Got Invited To Michael Jordan’s On-Set Basketball Games
If you watched the recent ESPN docuseries The Last Dance, chronicling the final title run of the Chicago Bulls in 1998, you may have noticed the famous “Jordan Dome” from Space Jam. The series jumps back in time for certain segments and after Jordan comes out of retirement (for the first time), he loses in the playoffs to the Orlando Magic.
Following the Bulls’ exit, Jordan began filming Space Jam in the summer of 1995. Hellbent on never losing another series, he had Warner Bros. build him a full-size basketball court so that he could practice and train during off days from shooting the movie. Sports fans know of the infamous “Jordan Dome,” of course, but there was never really any footage of the games MJ would have in it.
The series features all-too-brief moments of Jordan playing on the court with a number of big names, including Reggie Miller, Charles Oakley and Patrick Ewing. One famous person who never got an invite to the games though was Bill Murray. While appearing on the Flying Coach With Steve Kerr and Pete Carroll podcast, the actor spoke about how impressive the facility was, saying:
“I couldn’t believe that basketball court that they built, it was full-size,” Murray said. “They just took over this whole area and built this building for one movie with a weight room, a beautiful floor, and that was fun to hang around there. I was never invited into that game, but it was fun to watch that game.”
Asked why he wasn’t invited to play, Murray said, “I don’t think my shoes were new enough.”
“They were awfully good, and it was great to see all kinds of different guys, and there were young guys and older guys, guys who were already out of the league,” Murray added. “All kinds of different people there, and it was quite a situation. That was just watching the game, I was just a fan.”
Murray’s an avid Chicago Cubs fan and he’s also been known to play a few rounds of golf from time-to-time. And if you watched The Last Dance, you know that besides basketball, Jordan’s two favorite things are cigars and golf. In fact, that’s one sport Murray did manage to play alongside another NBA player, who was also pretty good in his day.
“On movie shoots, you’ll be in shot and then they have to turn the camera off, it takes 45 minutes to an hour or more. And we would just go play golf for about an hour,” the actor recalled. “And it was Larry Bird, and myself, and Michael. It was fun to play with him, and it was fun to goof around with him, it made it easier to shoot the scenes.”
The Ghostbusters star is known for walking into anywhere without a care in the world. Whether it’s bars, weddings or parties, he’s one of the coolest and most down-to-earth celebrities on the planet. But I guess he wasn’t cool enough to play in the legendary “Jordan Dome” games on the Space Jam set.

Justice League’s Ray Fisher Shares New Cyborg Image And Praises Zack Snyder
In the wake of the big news that Zack Snyder’s original cut of Justice League will be arriving on HBO Max in 2021, actors from the movie have been back in the headlines while speaking about their possible involvement.
Cyborg star Ray Fisher has been one of the most outspoken and recently took to Twitter to share a never-before-seen image of his character from the film. He also praised Snyder for not only giving him a chance with the role, but allowing him to have input in the part.
You Ray, are the heart of my movie. @ray8fisher https://t.co/cZ64Vlg50V
— Zack Snyder (@ZackSnyder) June 6, 2020
Cyborg was a pleasant surprise in the movie. While the more popular superheroes were getting all of the love in trailers, Victor Stone was one of the few characters to have a real arc in the film. And based on the previews, a significant portion of his story was cut from the theatrical version.
As Fisher noted in his tweet, he’d never been in a movie before being cast as Victor Stone and since then, his only other acting appearance was in season 3 of True Detective. In other words, he’s eager to showcase more of his talent in the Snyder Cut in hopes of getting more work.
After all, now that The Flash has a new director in Andy Muschietti, it could be a launching point for Cyborg to get his own movie, too. At the Aquaman premiere in 2018, Fisher spoke about the limitless power of the character and what it would mean to the world we currently live in, saying:
“One of the things is that we have so much technology, we as human beings are so dependent on technology, that the potential for Cyborg is almost limitless with what he could do,” he explained. “We’re talking about a guy who could, if he wanted to, could launch all the nukes with just a thought. He could stop all the cyber-terrorism in the world, if that was what his aim was because you don’t have people running and knocking over banks the way they used to. You’re not going and holding them up, you’re getting on your keyboard and you’re handling it that way. I think to be able to see that shift and have it be a real world, in time view of where we’re at in technology would be the most effective thing we could do.”
Say what you will about the Snyder Cut coming to fruition. But for Fisher, Justice League arriving on HBO Max just might prove to be a turning point in his young career.

The Internet’s Roasting Terry Crews For Controversial Black Lives Matter Tweet
2020 has been a rough year, and that’s putting it lightly.
First we were devastated by the coronavirus – and are still dealing with it – and then the murder of George Floyd became the straw that broke the camel’s back in terms of the world finally being fed up with police brutality. He was killed by asphyxia when officer Derek Chauvin held his knee on his neck for nearly 9 minutes while arresting him in Minneapolis, despite Floyd saying repeatedly that he couldn’t breathe.
The incident led to nationwide protests and riots in nearly every major US city, while many celebrities have also weighed in to make their voices heard – both at the aforementioned protests and on social media. And though a lot of them have said some very smart and insightful things, and earned much respect, others, well, not so much.
The latest example of those who fall into the latter camp is Terry Crews, who had the following to share this weekend:
Defeating White supremacy without White people creates Black supremacy. Equality is the truth.
Like it or not, we are all in this together.
— terry crews (@terrycrews) June 7, 2020
Of course, Twitter has had a ton to say about this and Crews is currently getting roasted pretty hard on social media, with the below tweets but a sampling of how people are reacting to his comments.
“Black supremacy” is trending right now as people are shocked by a tweet from @terrycrews regarding the Black Lives Matter movement.
— Taylor J (@summerjourn) June 8, 2020
You should really stop talking because you haven't got the first clue what you're talking about. BLM is a black supremacist group whose actions & words mirror the KKK.
Instead of supporting a hate group trying caring about people.

Without wading too far into the debate, it’s pretty clear why Crews’ comments have upset so many and led to such widespread anger on Twitter. Like we said, the tweets above are just a sample and you don’t have to look far to find a lot more like them. And while there are some who seem to be supportive of the actor, the general consensus is that what he said was pretty ignorant.
As of yet, it doesn’t look like Terry Crews has weighed in on the backlash, but should he issue a follow-up statement or attempt to explain his tweet, we’ll be sure to let you know.

A Little-Seen Horror Movie Has Been Dominating Netflix All Week
Earlier this month, Netflix added a boat-load of both classics and underrated films, including a number of spine-tinglers and thrillers. Yes, June has been a good month for horror fans when it comes to what’s on offer on the streaming site. But even with new additions like The Silence of the Lambs and Cape Fear, it’s a surprising and seemingly random movie that’s been dominating on the platform lately.
The film in question is Our House, a 2018 thriller directed by Anthony Scott Burns and starring Thomas Mann, Kate Moyer, Nicola Peltz and Percy Hynes White. For those that haven’t seen it, the pic follows a young genius who accidentally invents a device that has the ability to amplify the paranormal activity in his house. Though that also comes along with the possibility of unleashing the wrong spirits.
Sounds pretty standard plot-wise, and it is, but Our House has been sitting on the Netflix Top 10 movies list almost all week now, hovering around at various spots but still hanging in there as of this writing at #10. Though it was several spots higher as of a few days ago. And the most surprising thing is, there’s no real explanation for its popularity.
Not only did Our House have a very limited theatrical release, but it seemingly sunk without a trace back when it came out in 2018 and didn’t really create much of a buzz. It doesn’t appear to have found a new life in the years since, either, but somehow, someway, it’s now seen a huge burst of interest from Netflix subscribers.
Typically, you could chalk something like this up to a film just arriving on the platform, and while Our House did indeed touch down on June 1st, so did a ton of other big, big movies. Plus, the fact that it’s seen so many viewers flocking to it that it’s still hanging on in the Top 10 after nearly a week of being on Netflix is certainly surprising. That’s some impressive staying power that even many of the streaming site’s originals don’t have.
But tell us, have you checked out Our House yet? And if so, were you impressed? As always, leave a comment below with your thoughts.

The Hunger Remake Reportedly In Development, Jennifer Lawrence Eyed To Star
Based on Hollywood’s continued obsession with vampires, the bloodsuckers will apparently never go out of fashion, and with so many different ways to approach the mythology, it appears that filmmakers won’t be running out of ideas any time soon, either. Although generally associated with the horror genre, vampires have also been used in everything from action movies and romance to sci-fi and comedy.
The standard tropes of vampirism can constantly be refreshed, reinvented and updated for modern audiences to offer fresh perspectives on such well-known archetypes, and seeing as the movie business isn’t shy on cannibalizing their own back catalogue to remake anything with even the slightest hint of name recognition, we’ve now heard that a new version of cult classic vampire flick The Hunger is reportedly in the early stages of development.
According to our sources – the same ones who told us National Treasure 3, Now You See Me 3 and Scream 5 were in the works long before any of them were confirmed – Jennifer Lawrence is being eyed for one of the two female leads to play one third of the love triangle between an undead couple and a human scientist, with Moon and Warcraft’s Duncan Jones said to be on the shortlist to write and direct. Though at this point, it’s unclear if either has been approached.
Of course, Jones might not be too keen to sign on given that David Bowie took second billing in the 1983 original and the filmmaker has been keen to distance himself from his father’s legacy, while Lawrence seems to be a lot more picky about her projects these days now that her contractual obligations to the X-Men franchise have been fulfilled. But they’re definitely two names that the studio are interested in, as is Anya Taylor-Joy, we’re told.
Tony Scott’s movie was a critical and commercial disappointment when it was first released, but in the decades since, The Hunger has gone on to become a firm cult favorite, and given the level of talent that are being sought for the remake, it looks like the latest in the never-ending line of vampire movies is being viewed as a high-priority project.

Harry Potter Actress Responds To J.K. Rowling’s Transphobic Tweets
Harry Potter fans have been offended by J.K. Rowling’s transphobic Twitter activity before, but this weekend the acclaimed author decided to deliver a massive hit to her own reputation by sharing a series of tweets that made her views crystal clear. Many are furious at Rowling for airing such inflammatory comments at any time, let alone in the midst of the Black Lives Matter movement and Pride Month.
Of course, it wasn’t long before the social media conversation also evolved into discussing the poor representation in the HP novels. Case in point: the controversial character of Cho Chang, who many feel was given an insensitive name and sidelined in the story arc. The chatter got so loud it even caught the attention of Cho herself, Katie Leung, who played the Hogwarts student in the Potter movies. And Leung had the perfect response to the situation.
“So, you want my thoughts on Cho Chang? Okay, here goes… (thread),” Leung wrote. Instead of commenting further, however, the actress shared a series of links to donate or otherwise help support the black trans community.
— Katie Leung (@Kt_Leung) June 7, 2020
— Katie Leung (@Kt_Leung) June 7, 2020
— Katie Leung (@Kt_Leung) June 7, 2020
This is one of those cases when actions speak louder than words. Clearly, Leung has no time for Rowling’s anti-trans beliefs in general and especially for her voicing them during this particular period. The actress smartly used people’s interest in the Rowling controversy to redirect their attention to much more helpful and important matters. It’s a very classy move from the actress and seems to have had the desired effect, earning over 25k retweets at the time of writing.
In case you missed the Twitter storm, here are a few of the tweets from those criticizing Rowling’s depiction of Cho:
All I got to say is that as an Asian woman that a character being named Cho Chang in a world where people's names are interesting like "Nymphadora Tonks" is nothing. I have nothing else to say. It speaks for itself.
— Aprilyn Cunanan (@aprilynacunanan) June 6, 2020
I love how cho Chang is trending. Gotta get that one off my chest. Jk Rowling gave the one chinese character the name equivalent of ching Chong. Then that character ended up being a snitching ass square. And did literally nothing in the series but date people.
— Kimmy The Pooh (@kimmythepooh) June 7, 2020
This is every line spoken by Cho Chang in all 8 of the Harry Potter films. Most are her saying “Harry!” like “Harry!! I really am sorry!” and “You’re a really good teacher, Harry.” https://t.co/QfG0MZlOgF
— Nancy Wang Yuen (@nancywyuen) June 7, 2020
There’s no argument about it, Cho Chang is a deeply problematic character in the Harry Potter canon. Thankfully, Katie Leung seems to be fully aware of this and is definitely not here for Rowling’s nonsense. 50 points to Ravenclaw!
