‘The Flash’ trailer spoiled a heck of a lot, but it made one key mystery even more confusing

The latest, and most eye-opening, trailer for The Flash just dropped via CinemaCon yesterday, offering our fullest impression of the incoming summer superhero blockbuster yet. In particular, it spoiled how the whole multiversal cataclysm comes about, with Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen accidentally changing the timeline by going back in time to undo the death of his mother when he was a child.

On the other hand, however, despite dropping this bombshell, the trailer has left fans who know their stuff scratching their heads as it only intensifies a major mystery about the movie’s plot. As comic book readers will be aware, this central concept is pilfered from the Flashpoint comic book event, in which Barry’s nemesis Reverse-Flash is responsible for Nora Allen’s murder.

Warner Bros. CEO gushing over ‘The Flash’ infuriates the lingering ‘Batgirl’ defenders

The DC blacklist among fans is long, but Warner Bros. Discovery boss David Zaslav is slowly climbing up that ladder. The studio head waxed lyrical over The Flash after early screenings for the controversial movie took place at CinemaCon on Tuesday, and scorned Batgirl supporters were left feeling double-crossed.

Zaslav reportedly called the Ezra Miller-led blockbuster the best superhero movie he’s ever seen – a far cry from the backing he offered to the infamously shelved DC title. At the time, Zaslav argued Batgirl wasn’t up to par with DC’s standards, but considering the slew of accusations against Flash star Miller for the last three years, fans are left wondering what exactly those standards are.

CinemaCon comes and goes with no mention of a pulled Stephen King horror that showed a full trailer last year

Salem’s Lot is widely considered one of Stephen King’s best stories. The 1975 novel tells the eerie tale of a writer returning to his hometown and realizing that vampirism is afoot. King himself named it as one of his favorite books, saying he’s proud of how well he communicated themes of a closely-knit community turning on one another when the chips are down.

The novel was memorably adapted by Tobe Hooper in 1979 as a two-part miniseries, and again in 2004 by Band of Brothers director Mikael Salomon. With King adaptations still top performers at the box office, Warner Bros. promptly commissioned a third theatrical adaptation from AnnabelleThe Nun, and IT writer Gary Dauberman.
