Seth Rogen Is Really Excited About His Role In The Lion King

For Jon Favreau’s upcoming reboot of The Lion King, all your favorites from the Pride Lands – from Simba to Scar and everyone in between – will receive the live-action treatment in what promises to be the most star-studded Disney movie ever made.

We’re not kidding, either. One glance at the casting docket reveals that Beyoncé Knowles-Carter and James Earl Jones (Star Wars) have agreed to voice Nala and Mufasa, respectively, while Chiwetel Ejiofor is poised to take point as the villainous Scar. And it gets even better, as Donald Glover (AtlantaSolo: A Star Wars Story) will star in Disney’s rebooted fairytale as Simba, the lion who would be king, while Seth Rogen’s on board to bring to life the loveable Pumbaa.

It’s a role he’s pretty excited about, too, as in a recent interview with ET, the actor revealed that the whole experience has been surreal and thrilling for him. Especially because Favreau’s a very close friend of his.

It’s thrilling! It’s amazing for many reasons. One is because I’m a big fan of The Lion King. Two is because it’s the most expensive movie I’ll have anything to do with probably, so that’s thrilling. Jon Favreau, the director, I’ve known since I was 18, is a very close friend of mine. So again, it’s always exciting to get to work with people that you know well. Yeah and we’re good friends. Overall it’s surreal. It will be weird when it comes out.

The Lion King

With pre-production now underway, it shouldn’t be too much longer before we get a proper look at the movie, but it’s certainly nice to see Rogen’s enthusiasm for the project in the meantime, which will certainly work its way into his performance, too. But it’s not just the voice talent that we have to look forward to here. Far from it, in fact.

Behind the scenes, Jeff Nathanson (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales) is the screenwriter attached to the latest draft of the script, while both Beyoncé and Elton John will assist with the music, and after the back-to-back success of The Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast, the Mouse House will no doubt be hoping to make it three for three with their live-action remakes.

Of course, The Lion King is just one of a whole host of classic Disney animated properties being given a new coat of paint. Others on the way include DumboMulan and AladdinThe tale of the flying elephant is first out the door, with a release date of March 29th, 2019. The story of Simba and his pals is then set to land in cinemas on July 19th.

Midway through his speech, a bang can be heard, after which Maduro and the people surrounding him look up, before the camera abruptly cuts to Venezuelan soldiers scattering in the streets. 19 New Avengers: Infinity War Behind The Scenes Pics Surface

If you’re a true Marvel Cinematic Universe fan, then you’ve no doubt already grabbed the digital edition of Avengers: Infinity War and dove right into the impressive plethora of special features that are included. If you’re waiting for the Blu-ray or you’re on the fence about the package, though, then maybe this trailer for some of the bonus features might be the tipping point.

Either way, now that the film’s heading to home video, a ton of behind the scenes material has been pouring out. From photos to videos and, of course, footage that didn’t make it into the theatrical cut, we’ve seen a lot from Infinity War as of late. Not that we’re complaining, mind you, as with a movie this big, it’s always fascinating to get a look at what went into making it.

Thankfully, then, the streak continues today with a meaty gallery of behind the scenes photos. Seen below, you can catch a glimpse of Thor in Wakanda, Doctor Strange doing battle in New York, Tony and Peter sharing a heartbreaking moment and much, much more.

As mentioned above, this is just the latest in a long line of BTS looks that have surfaced for Infinity War lately. And again, you can thank the film’s upcoming Blu-ray release for that, as Marvel’s been dropping a lot of goodies to build the hype for it. Not that they really need to, though, as with a global box office haul north of $2 billion, there’s no doubt the pic will do well on home video.

Speaking of which, you can expect Joe and Anthony Russo’s Avengers: Infinity War to land on Blu-ray/DVD later this month, on August 14th. The only question left, is, will you be picking it up? Or have you already grabbed it on digital? Be sure to let us know in the comments section below.

Jason Statham And Ruby Rose Highlight New Character Posters For The Meg

We’re so close to The Meg opening stateside now that you can practically smell the sea water in the air.

Scheduled to bring the blockbuster season to a close next Friday, The Meg – which will see action star Jason Statham go toe-to-toe with a prehistoric super-shark – has unarguably reinvigorated the publicity game with the occasional eye-popping poster and delectably cheesy tagline (“pleased to eat you” is my favorite), so it’s about time we got something more in line with your run-of-the-mill blockbuster.

That said, we’re not dealing with your run-of-the-mill blockbuster here, we’re dealing with The mother-effing Meg! And as such, even these international character posters – which you can check out below – featuring The Stath, Ruby Rose and Li Bingbing can’t help but bring a smile to our face.

Directed by Jon Turteltaub (National Treasure), this adaptation of Steve Alten’s New York Times bestselling book, Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror has already smelt the blood in the water and gone in for the kill. Described as this year’s guilty pleasure, and possibly the ultimate popcorn-movie, early reactions to The Meg call it the season’s most enjoyable movie and considering the likes of Mission: Impossible – Fallout, and Ant-Man and the Wasp have already basked in the summer sun (successfully, I might add), that’s saying a lot.

Ultimately, if the very thought of watching Jason Statham go to war with a primeval predator in the blistering August heat isn’t enough to get you sweating, then you don’t know spellbinding cinema. After all, summer just isn’t the same without an excellent subaquatic fright flick to get your blood pumping, and The Meg is sure to deliver the necessary teeth and testosterone.
