The McLaren OnePlus 6T has just been made official at an event hosted in McLaren’s headquarters, where the luxury automaker and the budget-friendly smartphone company inaugurated the start of their brand partnership. Speaking with The Verge ahead of the announcement, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei admitted that he was convinced the collaboration made sense after test-driving a McLaren 720S. To him, both McLaren and OnePlus are brands for “people in the know.” There are lots of other flashy cars you can get, argues Pei, but you get a McLaren when you’re really into cars and the driving experience. Sigil, which takes place after the events of Doom’s fourth episode, will be released as a free download in February and features nine single-player and nine multiplayer levels. LG has announced a “capsule-based craft beer system,” because nothing says “craft” more than easy one-button operation. It’s called the LG HomeBrew, of course, and LG will be unveiling it in full at CES next month. The capsules contain malt, yeast, hop oil, and flavoring, while the machine “automates the whole procedure from fermentation, carbonation and aging to serving and cleaning,” according to LG.
The HomeBrew will have five beers available: an American IPA, an American pale ale, an English stout, a Belgian-style Witbier, and a dry Czech pilsner. Infinity Blade, the medieval fighting / role-playing mobile game series from Epic Games, is no more, as the developer has removed all three entries in the franchise from Apple’s App Store. The series has been dormant since 2013, when Infinity Blade III was released and Epic and co-developer Chair Entertainment announced the third game would mark the end of the planned trilogy. However, Epic has continued to support the games throughout the last half-decade — until today, it seems.

Long before it struck out on its own, a distant, small asteroid called Bennu had a wet, watery start, according to new evidence just announced by NASA.
NASA’s OSIRIS-REx spacecraft, which arrived at Bennu on December 3rd after a two-year journey, is currently positioned about 12 miles above the surface of the asteroid. It recently sent back data indicating that the asteroid’s surface is littered with clay-like minerals that indicate that parts of this space rock had liquid water at some point in its distant past.

In Kjellberg’s most recent edition of “Pew News,” a semi-satirical series where Kjellberg offers his own take on news events or YouTube cultural discussions, he dedicates the last portion of the video to shouting out smaller YouTube creators he enjoys watching. One of those creators is E;R (otherwise known as “EsemicolonR”), an essayist who often includes anti-Semitic, sexist, homophobic, and cruel language in his videos.

The Apple store in Bordeaux, France, was robbed and damaged on Saturday night by “yellow vest” protesters during mass street riots, as reported by ABC News. This is the third week the gilets jaunes (yellow vests) have taken to the streets of Paris, as part of a mobilization which began as a reaction against a hike in the country’s gasoline tax. The tax was recently dropped, but protests have continued as the movement has now shifted to encompass frustrations over pensions, minimum wage, and more.

Alt-right commentator and Proud Boys founder Gavin McInnes is now banned from YouTube for “multiple third-party claims of copyright infringement,” according to the company. At the time of the ban, McInnes, who also co-founded Vice Media in 1994 prior to his involvement with numerous nationalist causes, had over 200,000 subscribers. It is not clear which videos on McInnes’ channel led to the ban, but YouTube confirmed that the channel had exceeded the threshold for copyright strikes, leading to a “repeat offender” ban.

Ever since the news dropped back in August that Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth have pulled out of Star Trek 4 due to salary disputes, the S.J. Clarkson-helmed flick has been in a state of uncertainty, with neither Paramount Pictures nor the franchise’s regular cast having much to report in recent months.
But while John Cho is no exception, the actor is steadfast in his opinion that the project should happen, pleading his case in an interview with The Playlist:
“I think its an important part of American popular culture that speaks to America’s best impulses and I think that there will always be a place for Star Trek films and I just hope to be in it and there isn’t another totally different group of people! I’m bullish about it, and honestly, for personal reasons I suppose the last film has a cloud over it, losing Anton [Yelchin] after the last one and for me it would be important personally to make one more at least. I think it would alleviate that part of us a little bit to make at least one more.”
As it stands, the Star Trek property is set to prolong its presence in pop culture by way of the small screen, with Patrick Stewart’s show reportedly heading for a 2019 launch and Star Trek: Discovery scheduled to return to CBS All Access on January 17th.
The movies, however, are another matter, and from the sound of things, we’re unlikely to get any confirmation either way on Star Trek 4 until the situation with Pine is resolved. A few months ago, the actor himself said he’d “love to be involved,” though the relative lack of news since then suggests that he and the studio have yet to work out their disagreements. Meanwhile, the likes of producer Adi Shankar have tried arguing that the series doesn’t need a James T. Kirk to keep going, but it’s clear that there are a lot of fans out there who’d disagree.
Regardless, while Cho admitted in the same interview that he has no updates to offer, he also mentioned that he’s “optimistic there will be another one” because he’s “optimistic about what Star Trek says and its place in our culture.” It’s clear that not everyone shares in his optimism right now, but here’s hoping we won’t have too much longer to wait before we get some official news on the matter.
