The Apple HomePod goes on sale in Japan next week
Apple will start selling the HomePod in Japan from next week. Pre-orders are already live on the company’s website, with the smart speaker set to ship on Friday, August 23rd. The HomePod is priced at 32,800 yen in Japan, which works out to about $309. Apple cut the US launch price by $50 to $299 earlier this year, though it’s been known to sell for significantly less.
More than two years from its unveiling at WWDC 2017, Japan is only the eleventh market that Apple has made the HomePod available in worldwide. Apple isn’t giving up on the product, however, and is adding new features in iOS 13 such as the ability to recognize the voices of multiple users.

Scarlet Witch May Get Her Comic-Accurate Costume For Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness
You could argue that Scarlet Witch has been a little underused in the MCU to date, with the surviving Maximoff twin having to scrape by with limited screentime in team-up movies. However, that should change in Phase 4. Not only is WandaVision on the way, but Elizabeth Olsen will co-star with Benedict Cumberbatch in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. And it looks like the movie will finally do something that fans have been waiting to see since the heroine debuted in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
We Got This Covered has been informed that Doctor Strange 2 will see Scarlet Witch getting a comic-accurate costume. This intel comes from the folks over at the Lords of the Long Box YouTube channel, who reached out to us directly with the scoop. Given that this hasn’t been confirmed by the studio yet, we advise taking it with the usual grain of salt. However, Olsen has previously told us that WandaVision will explore Wanda’s character deeper than ever before and also explain how she comes to be known as Scarlet Witch.
That being said, it seems Marvel will hold off on giving her the comic costume until her next appearance in Doctor Strange 2. The two projects will be closely linked, though, as the Disney Plus series arrives in Spring 2021 while Multiverse drops in May.
As for what a comic-accurate outfit could consist of, well, the main thing it needs to get right is Wanda’s headpiece, which honestly they should’ve got around to giving her by now. Still, if we’re set for a real deep dive into who the character is, then Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness should be worth the wait and might just find itself as one of Phase 4’s most anticipated releases – if it’s not already.

Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer Almost Included Nick Fury
Now that characters pertaining to the X-Men, Fantastic Four and Deadpool franchises reside under Disney’s umbrella and all that jazz involving Fox lies in the past, it’s not like we can just wipe it from our memory. Plus, it’s always fun learning new bits of trivia.
As you may already know, some characters existed within a legal grey area and were fair game for both Disney and Fox. Chief among them were Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch, the former of which wound up having two live action versions of him existing at the same time. The alien race known as the Skrulls were also of this ilk, though they wound up being called something else in Dark Phoenix.
Nick Fury, however, wasn’t residing over at Fox, though they did try to get him at one point. Believe it or not, Andre Braugher’s character in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer was originally intended to be Fury, but Fox didn’t want to pay the extra money required to gain the rights to him. Subsequently, he morphed into becoming General Hager – even if some Nick Fury dialogue from Ultimate Extinction #2 did carry over.
In case you were wondering, the change was made quite early in the scripting stage, so it’s not like director Tim Story and his cohorts were left scrambling when cameras were ready to roll. Still, it’s interesting to learn how another filmmaking team were interested in adapting the version of Nick Fury familiar to the Ultimate Universe not long after his inception.
Speaking of which, the black Nick Fury created by Mark Millar and Bryan Hitch was actually patterned after Samuel L. Jackson, so it’s only fitting that very actor wound up portraying him on the big screen. Had things worked out differently for Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, one can only wonder how the Marvel Cinematic Universe would’ve diverged.

Dropbox had to evacuate its headquarters when an electric scooter caught fire
You can buy an electric scooter. You can rent an electric scooter. And of course, you can pick one up off a crowded street. What you can’t do is escape the ridicule that comes with this extremely convenient mode of transportation — particularly not after they explode inside a tech company’s headquarters and cause people to evacuate.
The San Francisco Fire Department has confirmed to The Verge that Dropbox evacuated its SF headquarters at 333 Brannan Street yesterday after an electric scooter caught fire on the fifth floor of the building. The SFFD says it was able to extinguish the fire, and that no one got hurt.
Apparently Dropbox was evacuated due to a scooter battery-related explosion on the fifth floor. I’m glad everyone is OK!!...
