Disney Plus Is Losing A Popular Film To Netflix Next Month

Given Disney Plus‘ recent launch, it’s the norm for titles from other streaming services to hop over to the Mouse House’s site, but in this case it’s the other way around. September 1st will see 2014’s Muppets Most Wanted arrive on Netflix, which is an unexpected move as it’s currently streaming on D+.

Muppets Most Wanted was the sequel to the smash-hit 2011 which relaunched Jim Henson’s beloved characters in a major way. It saw the Muppets going on a world tour, but along the way they get caught up in a jewel heist and encounter Kermit’s evil double, Constantine – yes, this is where the Dark Kermit meme comes from. Tiny Fey, Ricky Gervais and Ty Burrell lead the human cast.

As directed by James Bobin, taking over from Jason Segel, it wasn’t as big an earner as its predecessor and to date is the Muppets’ last theatrical venture. Muppets fans love it, though, so they might be annoyed to find out that it’s leaving D+, which is home to a wide selection of Muppets content.

Muppets Most Wanted

This includes Muppets Now, the brand-new series starring Kermit, Miss Piggy and the gang. Unlike 2015’s mature-leaning mockumentary sitcom, Now is a pretty back-to-basics Muppets show. An unscripted comedy, made up of various skits and celebrity appearances, it just premiered last Friday on D+ and airs new episodes every week.

Presumably, the reason why Most Wanted is leaving D+ is because of a licensing agreement that was made before the launch of the service. Once this previous deal expires, though, it will likely make its way back on to the site so fans can have one place to go to for all their Muppet needs again.

In the meantime, if you’re a Disney Plus subscriber and haven’t caught the 2014 movie in a while, you might want to watch it very soon before it goes.

Captain Marvel 2 Has Finally Found A Director

After the box office success of Captain Marvel, Carol Danvers’ next MCU film has been a hot project, but it wasn’t until earlier this year that we got official confirmation that Captain Marvel 2 is in development. However, there hasn’t been too much movement on the pic since, which is perhaps understandable given what’s going on in the world right now.

But finally, at long last, the movie has taken a big step forward as it’s secured a director. Yes, Deadline brings word tonight that Candyman‘s Nia DaCosta will get behind the camera for Carol’s second solo outing. The outlet notes that several candidates had been meeting with the studio over the past few months, but it seems DaCosta has now emerged victorious, securing the job.

She’ll certainly have some big shoes to fill, after Captain Marvel pulled in over $153 million domestically on its first weekend alone. Of course, it went on to gross a worldwide total of $1.128 billion, which easily earned it the title of highest grossing solo debut of the MCU to date. Except for 2018’s Black Panther, that is. Those are some mighty impressive numbers and given that DaCosta hasn’t helmed any blockbusters yet, it’ll be interesting to see how she does here.

That being said, she’s also the exact type of filmmaker that Marvel loves working with. So many of their movies are directed by up and coming talent who don’t have much – if any – blockbuster experience. And it almost always works out for the best. As such, we’re optimistic about Captain Marvel 2‘s chances of success and as soon as we hear of any further updates on the pic, we’ll be sure to let you know.

Twitter said it would prevent President Trump’s @TeamTrump campaign account from tweeting until it removed a tweet that violates Twitter’s rules on COVID-19 misinformation, the company confirmed to The Verge Wednesday evening. However, it appears that @TeamTrump has removed the tweet in violation of the rules, as it has tweeted again several times this evening.

The tweet in dispute, according to The Washington Post, was a clip of an interview Trump gave to Fox News where he falsely claimed that children are “almost immune” to COVID-19.

If you navigate directly to the tweet as of this writing, you’ll see a notice saying that the tweet “is no longer available” because it violated Twitter’s rules. President Trump had also linked to the...

The US will pay up to $10 million if you can ID a foreign election hacker

Image: US Department of State

The 2020 US presidential election is less than 100 days away, and in an effort to prevent the foreign election interference that played a role in the 2016 election, the US Department of State announced today that it’s offering up to $10 million for any information that can identify someone who’s been meddling in a US election.

Specifically, the State Department is offering the reward for “information leading to the identification or location of any person who works with or for a foreign government for the purpose of interfering with U.S. elections through certain illegal cyber activities.”

As November draws near, foreign interference is reportedly already...

Audi drops E-Tron price by nearly $9,000 and ups the range by 18 miles

The 2021 Audi E-Tron, the company’s first all-electric car, will start at nearly $9,000 less than the current version and will get a range bump of 18 miles — bringing its total EPA-estimated range to 222 miles on a full battery pack.

The starting MSRP is dropping thanks to a new base version of the E-Tron SUV that will now start at $65,900, which is down $8,900 from the current $74,800 price tag. There are some sacrifices, of course. The company’s “Matrix” LED headlights (which aren’t available in the US to begin with) aren’t included with the base model, and neither is the Bang & Olufsen sound system. Audi will sell more fully-loaded versions of the 2021 E-Tron that start as high as $79,100.
