Indiana Jones 5 Set Photos Reveal Nighttime Motorcycle Chase

Compared to the torturous two-decade process that eventually yielded The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Indiana Jones 5 has enjoyed a relatively straightforward journey to getting in front of cameras when you think about it.

The fourth installment was mired in development hell for close to 20 years, going through countless rewrites from a multitude of writers in the process, but the fifth outing for Harrison Ford’s cinematic icon was officially announced by Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy in May 2015, and shooting is currently underway as the blockbuster looks to make good on its promise of a July 2022 release.

Of course, in that time, Indiana Jones 5 lost director Steven Spielberg and cycled through quite a few scribes itself, but cameras are now rolling under the steady hand of Logan‘s James Mangold, who also takes a co-writing credit on the screenplay alongside Jez and John-Henry Butterworth, with the trio previously collaborating on Best Picture nominee Ford v Ferrari.

Inevitably, the first set photos from the production have already made their way online, with the latest batch revealing a nighttime motorcycle chase and a train decked out in Nazi iconography, which is interesting when Indy 5 is likely to take place in the 1960s, and you can check out the images via the link below.

Funnily enough, Indiana Jones 5 is using the exact same railway line that recently played host to Mission: Impossible 7 and saw Tom Cruise rescue a stuntman from imminent danger. It seems that Harrison Ford wasn’t involved in the second unit night shoot, but there is a double wearing a disconcerting mask loosely designed to resemble the actor’s face, and we at least know that he’s pitched up in the United Kingdom ahead of donning the fedora once more, with the majority of the interiors and sets being built at Pinewood Studios.

Sylvester Stallone Gets Awesome Rambo Gift Ahead Of His 75th Birthday

There are no guarantees that any role an actor signs on for will end up going down in the annals of cinematic history as a genuine icon, and it’s even more rare for someone to pull it off twice.

Admittedly, John Travolta had done it by the end of the 1970s after playing Saturday Night Fever‘s Tony Manero and Grease‘s Danny Zuko, while Harrison Ford has Han Solo and Indiana Jones, Alan Rickman was Hans Gruber and Severus Snape, Ian McKellen nabbed Gandalf and Magneto and Arnold Schwarzenegger embodied Conan the Barbarian and the Terminator, to name just a handful. However, none of the aforementioned stars saw both of their most famous roles get statues.

Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky Balboa and John Rambo each have monuments in their honor, with the action icon having played the two parts a combined total of fourteen times over the course of five decades. The three-time Academy Award nominee turns 75 years old next month, and it looks as though he’s now gotten an early gift recreating a scene from Rambo: Last Blood, as you can see below.

There’s every chance we may have seen the last of Stallone as the two legendary figures, with the Italian Stallion sitting out Michael B. Jordan’s directorial debut on Creed III, while the title of Last Blood might well end up speaking for itself. Of course, Sly has been touting prequel TV shows for each of them, while there was also talk that he was developing a seventh Rocky film to put himself front and center once more. But for the time being, he clearly appears to be happy enough with a miniature version of Rambo that’ll no doubt take pride of place in his office.

Shazam! Fury Of The Gods Director Addresses Possible Black Adam Cameo

It’s almost certainly a sure thing that we’ll be seeing Zachary Levi’s Shazam and Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam throw hands in a future DCEU blockbuster, the only question is when that’s supposed to happen.

The former’s sequel Fury of the Gods and the latter’s DCEU debut are currently both in front of cameras despite Black Adam releasing eleven months earlier, and the concurrent production schedules have only increased speculation that either Levi or Johnson might end up dropping by the other’s blockbuster for a cameo appearance to set up the inevitable showdown in the future.

In a recent social media Q&A session with fans, director David F. Sandberg was asked if Black Adam would be making his presence felt in Shazam! Fury of the Gods, and the filmmaker’s succinct response was “no, he has his own movie.” That’s hardly going to do much to dampen the talk, though, especially when the superhero genre is famed for its post-credits sequences teasing what comes next, and either Levi’s third solo outing or Johnson’s second would be the most likely candidate. Or perhaps the Justice Society of America will end up getting a spinoff of their own.

In any case, Shazam! Fury of the Gods‘ leading man has hardly been shy when admitting his excitement about the prospect of fighting Dwayne Johnson in a big budget epic, and as archenemies, there might already be a plan in place for them to cross over, although this is admittedly Warner Bros. and DC Films we’re talking about, and neither outfit is known for its long-term planning when it comes to the DCEU. That being said, it’s all but guaranteed to happen eventually based on nothing more than the comic book lore.

The Conjuring Star Patrick Wilson Reveals What He’d Ask The Real Ed Warren

One of the major selling points behind The Conjuring trilogy has been the ‘real’ angle, with each installment based on a case investigated by Ed and Lorriane Warren, played by Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson on the big screen. Of course, plenty of creative license has been taken in bringing those tales to life, but it’s a relatively unique hook for the horror genre nonetheless.

The first movie saw the intrepid duo investigate the claims of the Perron family, who moved into a Rhode Island farmhouse in the early 1970s and soon believed themselves to be hounded by an evil presence, and it turned out that a rumored Satanist named Bathsheba Sherman had lived on their property a century prior.

The Conjuring 2 then tackled the Enfield poltergeist, with two sisters purportedly being terrorized by a malevolent spirit, although independent investigators believed it to be a hoax. Current box office champion The Devil Made Me Do It, meanwhile, revolves around the murder trial of Arne Cheyenne Johnson, the first court case in United States history where demonic possession was used as the basis for the defense.

Ed Warren passed away in 2006, seven years before The Conjuring was released, and in a new interview to promote the third chapter, Wilson revealed what he would have liked to ask his counterpart.

“I just look at everything like right in front of me. I don’t think about, ‘Oh, if I only had the chance’. I think I would be so nervous at this point, because I feel like I’m crafted my own version of him in my head. That I wouldn’t want him to screw up. It’s like when you meet a rock star, you’re like, ‘I wanna meet you, but I kind of don’t cause you may totally blow it for me’. No, that would be super fun. I would love to just drill him about the smallest little things that no one would ever notice. Like, ‘I always carried a knife in my pocket’, or something like that. Which he probably did, actually, now that I really think about it. He seems like one of those guys.

Lorraine Warren at least saw the first two Conjuring movies come to fruition before she died in 2019, and she was fully supportive of James Wan’s vision, as well as giving Wilson and Farmiga the inside track on how to approach their performances based on her own experiences, but the stars have nonetheless made the roles their own, and the stories might not be over just yet.
