Star Wars Fans Aren’t Happy That Anakin Was Left Off The Skywalker Saga Poster

May the 4th – Star Wars Day – is just around the corner and to mark the occasion, Disney is releasing The Rise of Skywalker on Disney+ to stream for all subscribers. This will mean that for the first time ever, the entire Star Wars movie collection is available to watch in one place. This includes the full prequel, original and sequel trilogies, as well as Rogue One and Solo.

To celebrate, Disney+ released a new poster to showcase the entire Skywalker Saga. This is a collage of characters from across the entire franchise, with everyone from Darth Maul, General Grievous, Lando Calrissian, Poe Dameron and BB-8 all in one place. But fans have a big question: where’s Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker?

Fans of Anakin were already annoyed that a cameo in The Rise of Skywalker was reportedly left on the cutting room floor. On top of that, they weren’t happy when he was left off a recent Revenge of the Sith poster. But now, they’re upset all over again and here’s a sample of how it’s going down:

The obvious response to all this is that Anakin Skywalker is one of the biggest presences on this poster: he’s Darth Vader. And I imagine that whoever was designing this decided that it’s best to only have one version of each character present. After all, let’s face it, you can’t have a Skywalker Saga poster without Vader and Christensen’s pre-Dark Side Anakin just isn’t iconic enough. Adam Driver has apparently suffered the same fate, as we only see the masked Kylo Ren on the poster.

Even leaving that aside, it’s understandable that Disney didn’t want to put Christensen front and center as he’s rightly considered one of the worst things about the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy. Before you pick up those pitchforks, I’m sure he’s a perfectly lovely person and I know that George Lucas’ dialogue and direction wasn’t great, but at the end of the day? He sucked.

7 new trailers you should watch this week

Photo: HBO

I finally caught up on the Amazon series Undone, which I’ve been wanting to watch since getting a glimpse of its wonderful rotoscoped style. I think I complained in one of these columns recently that, upon rewatching A Scanner Darkly, I felt like its animation was underused, barely scratching the surface of what such a dark, trippy film could do with that dreamy style. Undone gets it right.

The series does a wonderful job of using its dreamy look to tell a story where characters are constantly going in and out of memories, leaving moments behind only to return to them later, mid-conversation. It’s something that could easily be overdone, but the story keeps it all grounded, even as the visuals help to express just how disorienting and...

Boosted was developing two bikes and a super-powered electric skateboard

Sam Sheffer, a tech YouTuber and former staffer at The Verge, posted a video on Friday revealing some unreleased products from the now-defunct electric skateboard startup Boosted, whose assets have been acquired by scooter company Lime and most of the company’s remaining inventory was obtained by a retailer in San Francisco. Sheffer shows images and photos of two bikes, a super-powered electric skateboard, a board with Tony Hawk’s Birdhouse brand, a board with an LED light ring around the edge, and more.

The two different bike models were called the “Bullet” and “P2,” according to Sheffer, and they appear to be electric bikes. However, it’s not clear what type of throttle the bikes used. It’s also unclear what the differences were...

Fortnite is hosting a Diplo concert in its new party mode

Fortnite’s new no-guns “party royale” mode just launched on Wednesday, and the new map will play host to its first live concert tonight at 9PM ET. DJ and producer Diplo will be performing a live Major Lazer set, and actor and performer Jordan Fisher will also be part of the show, according to a tweet by Epic Games.

The concert will be held at the big, music festival-like main stage on the east side of the island. Because there are no weapons in the new mode, you shouldn’t have to worry about defending yourself, which may make it easier to just enjoy the show.

New G.I. Joe Spinoff In Development, Will Follow Snake Eyes Movie

The G.I. Joe film series has been in stasis since the release of G.I. Joe: Retaliation back in 2013, but that stasis will soon come to an end. A new G.I. movie is set to release this October, an origins feature dubbed Snake Eyes, and according to The Hollywood Reporter, production tag team Paramount and Hasbro are already developing a follow-up.

Described as an “expansion” rather than a direct sequel to Snake Eyes, details are still scarce, but the film will likely serve to open up a G.I. Joe extended universe. Going by the description given, that is.

Paramount and Hasbro are no strangers to each other, of course. The former developed the multi-billion dollar Transformers film franchise, introducing a whole new generation of kids to the toys/characters (me included). With Michael Bay’s series of increasingly depressing sequels finished, and no further spinoffs coming in the immediate future, it makes sense that Paramount would throw weight behind a new vehicle. Should Snake Eyes be successful, one can expect to see this reported follow-up and more like it on the way.

Would you be excited to see a G.I. Joe film universe, though? Leave a comment below with your thoughts on that idea. I myself am not familiar with the franchise. All I recall is Christopher Eccleston describing how much he hated the experience of doing G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (that’s Chris’ view, not an indictment of the movie). One imagines he won’t be returning for future films.

Meanwhile, you can catch Snake Eyes in theaters on October 23rd. Assuming it doesn’t get postponed due to the pandemic, which on current outlook is a big assumption to make. Man, I hate to leave you on a downer. Think about the future where movies don’t get delayed. There you go.

Extraction Has Lots Its #1 Spot On Netflix To A Surprising New Film

Over the last week or so, it seems that everyone with a Netflix subscription has been giving Chris Hemsworth’s Extraction a watch, and walking away pretty pleased. Indeed, fans have been going wild over the action movie and at this rate, it looks to become one of the most popular Netflix Originals yet.

First-time director Sam Hargrave seems to have set up a viable franchise for the company with multi-film potential, something that we don’t see very often with Netflix’s high-profile projects. But all good things must come to an end and now, only a week after it debuted, Extraction has been bumped from the top spot on the streaming platform’s Top 10 movies list. And also on its overall Top 10 list, where it’s been dominating ever since it premiered.

Yes, if you’ve logged onto Netflix today – in the US, at least – you’ll see that on the overall list, Extraction currently sits in fourth place. But given that it’s also competing with television shows there, that’s not too surprising. Especially since Never Have I Ever is proving to be a big hit for the streamer.

What is surprising, though, is what you’ll see when you look at the Top 10 movies list, where Extraction is now placed second, behind Netflix Original Dangerous Lies. The newly released thriller doesn’t have any big names in its cast, nor has it done too well with critics, holding a score of just 46%. Even its audience score isn’t great, sitting at 52%.

So, how has it bumped one of Netflix’s biggest hits as far as movies go from the top? Well, we’re not sure, but it could just be that since it’s a new release, it’s being promoted more on the service. And there’s the fact that by this point, most people have probably seen Extraction already and are looking for something else to watch. Regardless, the action flick clearly still remains hugely popular and even if it slides down a few more spots, we imagine it’ll be in the Top 10 for a while yet.
