Reviews for indie action game Dead Cells began to roll out yesterday, and while the Metroidvania has been well-received by critics, an assessment by the leading video game website IGN is drawing controversy due to its similarity to an existing YouTube review of the game.
On July 24th, YouTube channel Boomstick Gaming uploaded a four-minute overview of Dead Cells, a roguelite that it praised for its unique marriage of combat and exploration. With 16,000 followers, Boomstick Gaming is a small channel that averages under 5,000 views per video. IGN, on the other hand, is the biggest gaming website on the internet, and its YouTube channel has around 10 million subscribers.

Instapaper is returning for users in member states of the European Union after a two-month service blackout now that the read-it-later app says it is compliant with the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Instapaper originally shut off service for EU users back in May, just days before the far-reaching privacy law went into effect. GDPR established stricter rules around data collection and user consent, and its complexity had many companies scrambling to ensure they were not found in violation ahead of the May 25th deadline.

OnePlus 2 was the first phone to feature reversible USB Type-C port. Three years later, the transition to the Type-C port is near complete, especially for mid-range and premium phones. However, you’d still be hard pressed to come across a Type-C affordable phone. This is one area where manufacturers don’t mind holding back, perhaps because […]

Now that we’ve learned Black Mask will be the villain in the upcoming Birds of Prey movie, one would assume that casting get underway before long. After all, if cameras are to begin rolling in January of 2019, then we should soon find out which other actors and actresses will be backing up Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn.
But before the casting department can do their job, fans will naturally take to the internet in order to let Hollywood know who they think should play the likes of Black Canary, Huntress, Rene Montoya, and whomever else is ultimately included.
Actually, there’s already been some digital art circulating that gives us an idea of how certain actresses would look if they were to land these iconic roles. This month alone has brought mock-ups of Alexandra Daddario as Huntress and Blake Lively as Black Canary, and now “atlant.99” on Instagram has placed Mission: Impossible – Fallout‘s Vanessa Kirby as the latter heroine, which you can be view below.
From where I’m sitting, the classic Black Canary look is on hand, but there also appears to be the ever so slight New 52 influence. Still, the fishnets Dinah is known to wear have put in an appearance, the absence of which would likely get the tights of many a fan in a twist.
Though I expect for Birds of Prey to focus on the here and now with its headliners, one has to wonder if indeed her romance with Green Arrow will be casually mentioned. This is something that The CW dropped the ball on, so perhaps we’ll one day see Oliver Queen united with his “pretty bird” on the big screen. One can only hope.
Another day, another post-launch Deadpool 2 reveal from The Hollywood Reporter.
And so, after shedding light on the film’s raunchiest joke (and why Ryan Reynolds was willing to defend it from the MPAA), the outlet has turned its attention to Juggernaut and, more specifically, the man tasked with bringing the hulking brute to life. Spoilers: it was Reynolds himself.
Doing good on those early rumors, when the time came for Deadpool 2‘s show-stopping finale – one involving a monumental dust-up between Juggernaut and Colossus – Ryan Reynolds was the one selected for a bout of motion-capture, and he even managed to keep it a secret from the remainder of the cast, including Colossus star Stefan Kapicic.
I didn’t know who was going to be doing the voice of Juggernaut. Ryan is always there when I’m working on Colossus, helping me with the lines and giving me ideas. Then I saw Ryan getting into the CGI costume, and I’m like ‘What’s going on, man? Did I miss something?’
As if juggling the dual role of Wade Wilson/Deadpool wasn’t enough, Ryan Reynolds even strayed into full-blown British villain territory for what is undoubtedly Deadpool 2‘s CGI cameo. Director David Leitch has previously gone on record to say that he needed Reynolds to fill in for some temporary voice work, but it seems the actor left a lasting impression on Leitch, who was happy enough to let Ryan Reynolds finish off the rest of the performance.
On the other hand, Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld touched base on the extra 15 minutes included on the soon-to-be-released Super Duper Cut:
When they showed me the movie, I said, ‘Hey, what happened to that scene? Why isn’t that scene in the movie?’ David was really confident. He goes, ‘The pace of the movie we want to deliver works better with these action and humor scenes out of it’. I said, ‘I will trust in you guys.’
Those deleted scenes (and much more!) will be featured on the Deadpool 2 Blu-ray later this month.
