Flight sticks are selling out after the release of Microsoft Flight Simulator

Photo by Sam Byford / The Verge

The recently-released Microsoft Flight Simulator is a game best enjoyed with a dedicated flight stick, but actually finding one of these controllers is a challenge. None of Amazon.com’s best-selling PC flight sticks are available to buy new as of Monday August 24th — they’re either listed as unavailable, only available used, or scheduled to be back in stock in the coming months.

It’s impossible to know if this current shortage is directly caused by the release of Microsoft Flight Simulator. Flight yokes and sticks are a relatively niche product to begin with, and, even prior to the game’s official release, people on Twitter were complaining about shortages. Meanwhile, plenty of other gaming accessories like Nintendo’s Ring Fit have also...

Google’s Android TV dongle could be coming soon

Two new Google hardware devices have shown up in FCC filings, and as 9to5Google notes, it seems likely that they’re related to the new Android TV product that’s reportedly been in the works for a while. If so, the filings could suggest that Google is finally gearing up to release it soon.

An XDA Developers report in June said that Google was preparing a TV dongle codenamed “Sabrina” that would use Android TV and a traditional remote-driven UI, unlike smartphone-controlled Chromecast devices. One of the new FCC filings refers to an “Interactive Media Streaming Device” with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, while the other is for a “Wireless Device” with Bluetooth and a power cover, which 9to5Google speculates could be Sabrina and its remote control...

One Of Denzel Washington’s Best Movies Hits Netflix Next Month

Denzel Washington has been one of the biggest stars in Hollywood for decades now and is also one of very few actors or actresses that can still drive a movie to success based on just the strength of their personal brand alone. His track record is nearly impeccable, and when you see his name above the title, you just know that you’re in for a good movie.

The two-time Academy Award winner can often be found in action-driven blockbuster or smaller-scale independent films where he can stretch his dramatic muscles a bit more. But no matter what he does, it’s rare to find him attached to something you’d classify as a bad movie.

Perhaps one of his best pieces of work though is also one of his earliest. Yes, 1989’s Glory was one of his first major film roles and really marked him as an actor to watch out for. A status he would certainly more than earn after following it up with a string of hits. But if you’ve never seen the historical drama, you’ll soon have the chance to, as it hits Netflix on September 1st.

Glory

For those unfamiliar, the war drama is helmed by Edward Zwick and follows “the 54th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment, the Union Army’s second African-American regiment in the American Civil War,” showing “the soldiers of the 54th from the formation of their regiment to their heroic actions at the Second Battle of Fort Wagner.”

An exceptional film on all fronts, it currently holds a Rotten Tomatoes score of 93%, with critics praising it for the “exceptional cinematography, powerful storytelling” and, of course, a powerful, Oscar-winning performance by Washington. Glory has since gone on to earn classic status and truthfully, it’s earned it, as it still holds up even several decades later.

If you’ve never seen it and want to catch Denzel Washington in what remains as one of his finest efforts, be sure to catch the film when it hits Netflix next month. Trust us when we say it’s two hours well spent.

DC Fans Are Going Nuts For The New Wonder Woman 1984 Trailer

DC’s FanDome event began in style with an all-star panel for Wonder Woman 1984. Director Patty Jenkins, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal and Wonder Woman herself, Gal Gadot, all appeared to discuss the upcoming movie. In addition, we got surprise appearances from tennis star Venus Williams and the iconic live-action Diana, Lynda Carter.

Of course, if things had gone to plan, Wonder Woman 1984 would be out on home release by now. It was once scheduled for November 1st, 2019 before being delayed half a year to June 5th, 2020. And then came an opponent Wonder Woman couldn’t lasso into submission: COVID-19. The delays caused by the pandemic have resulted in the film being pushed back further. It’s now supposedly coming out in October, but we’ll see if that sticks.

Despite the delays, fans are still extremely hyped for the sequel. The highlight of the panel was the awesome new trailer, showing off some intense action, solid jokes and our first good look at the transformed Cheetah. Social media seems to be digging it, and here’s a selection of the reactions:

That said, a number of people have pointed out that Cheetah looks suspiciously… jellicle. Given the terrible reputation of Cats, you can imagine Patty Jenkins’ reaction to realizing her villain shares an uncanny visual similarity to that film’s characters. Still, the short fight scene we get to see in the movie indicates that while they may resemble one another, at least Kristen Wiig isn’t likely to break into a cheesy song.

Let’s hope we get to see Wonder Woman 1984 sooner rather than later. Warner Bros. are adamant that it’ll hit theaters rather than premiere on VOD, but in this crazy, mixed-up year, who knows?
