The iPhone 12 has just barely launched, but we already have some idea what next year’s lineup could look like — according to TFI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple’s 2021 iPhones will keep the new form factor and screen sizes introduced with the iPhone 12 line, but offer an improved ultrawide camera on the high-end Pro and Pro Max models (via MacRumors).
Kuo predicted the iPhone 12 line and now seems set to reveal what to expect from the 2021 models nearly a year before they launch. This time, Kuo says the ultrawide camera of the Pro and Pro Max will be upgraded from the current f/2.4, five-element lens setup to an f/1.8, six-element lens with autofocus. The larger aperture should let in more light, potentially enhancing low-light...

A new video from Digital Foundry makes it immediately clear that the PS5 brings notable performance improvements to many PS4 games. The 30-minute video shows off a lot of big PS4 titles on running PS5, including Crysis Remastered, Dark Souls 3, Days Gone (with its PS5-exclusive 60fps framerate), Ghost of Tsushima (with its PS5-exclusive 60fps framerate), Hitman, Just Cause 3, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
I highly recommend that you watch it to see the games in action:
In the leadup to the PS5’s launch, Sony promised that the “overwhelming majority” of the more 4,000 PS4 games would work on the new console, and we’ve seen some developers announce PS5-exclusive optimizations (like Ghost of Tsushima’s boost to...

It’s been rumored before, but it was still shocking to hear now it’s official. Johnny Depp today announced on social media that Warner Bros. has asked him to step aside from his role as Gellert Grindelwald for Fantastic Beasts 3 and future instalments of the Wizarding World franchise, and he has respectfully agreed to their request. A reason for his dismissal hasn’t been given, but it’s not hard to work out.
This week, Depp’s UK libel case against British tabloid newspaper The Sun was thrown out, with the judge finding the Pirates of the Caribbean star guilty of domestically abusing ex-wife Amber Heard. Depp has presented much evidence suggesting that Heard emotionally and physically abused him throughout the case, however, which has ensured that many people remain on his side.
Given this latest blow to his career and reputation, Depp fans are flocking to sign a new Change.org petition which calls for WB to rehire the actor as Grindelwald, as a symbol of support and solidarity with male victims of domestic abuse. At the time of writing, the petition has garnered 3,380 signatures, which means it’s very close to reaching its initial goal of 5000. Creator Lepplady Larson argues in the petition’s description that Depp is a “wrongfully persecuted man” and explains why his firing from Fantastic Beasts 3 is the wrong decision for the studio to take.
“[T]he damage is done. Not just to Johnny, but every male survivor of domestic abuse. By finding against Johnny and his preponderance of evidence in the face of Heard’s abysmal lack of evidence, by saying that he believed Amber Heard because she’s a woman, the judge has made it impossible for abused me to come forward in search of support.
And by dumping Johnny, WB sends the message that they support abusers, and have no support whatsoever for the true victim. That’s not acceptable, and we must come together and raise our voices. Let’s send WB the message that we DO support not just Johnny Depp but every survivor of domestic support, including Men.”
WB has released a brief statement since Depp’s Instagram post which confirms he has left the franchise, though they did not mention that they were the ones to push him away. This statement also revealed that Fantastic Beasts 3 has been held back by another year and is now scheduled to arrive in theaters in summer 2022. The role of Grindelwald will be recast, but it doesn’t seem like they’ve begun that process yet. Who knows if this petition will cause them to rethink their strategy at all.
The Fantastic Beasts franchise made the bold decision to drop Johnny Depp as Grindelwald by asking the actor to resign from the role, and there’s already been a huge wave of backlash from fans. People were supporting the 57 year-old after he lost his latest court battle, and they blasted Disney when the studio decided to move forward on two Pirates of the Caribbean movies without him. As such, Warner Bros. should be bracing themselves for some heavy criticism.
After all, there’s an air of double standards about the whole thing, but with the majority of the issues between Depp and ex-wife Amber Heard focusing on accusations of spousal abuse, all parties need to tread a fine line. Of course, Heard is set to return as Mera in Aquaman 2, and J.K. Rowling is still heavily involved in the production of Fantastic Beasts 3 despite incurring the wrath of the internet on several occasions this year, so it appears that Depp is the one that’s been made to suffer.
Petitions have now been launched in an effort to reinstate him as Grindelwald, even though we all know they never work, but there’s also a groundswell of support gathering behind Colin Farrell returning to the Wizarding World. Having played Percival Graves in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, his character has a place in the mythology already that could be easily retconned, and you can check out some of the reactions from fans below.
Question… Can we see Colin Farrell return instead? He original played Grindelwald and was great. pic.twitter.com/pxvxrsoqk1

In an alternate reality, I'd be rejoicing over Johnny Depp's Fantastic Beasts exit and campaigning to bring back Colin Farrell, but since I'm never giving JK Rowling another cent, I'm over here like: pic.twitter.com/JL9Bx8aSsl

No lol. Colin Farrell was Graves, who Grindelwald was pretending to be. There’s no way to explain Colin into the role of Grindelwald. pic.twitter.com/JpDTMthBbX

Remember when Colin Farrell was in the first one as the same character and they could have avoided all of this by just… sticking with him https://t.co/eMbL1kfTFY

Saying Colin Farrell should come back as Grindelwald is exactly the same as saying Helena Bonham Carter should be Hermione because she was briefly Hermione in deathly hallows. Stop itttttty.

Of course, Farrell might not want to get involved in the increasingly troubled Fantastic Beasts 3, and it looks like the fates are currently conspiring against a spinoff series that was struggling to retain much enthusiasm or optimism from the audience even before the latest batch of setbacks. But regardless of what happens, it’ll be interesting to see how WB proceeds from here.
