Panasonic launches its Lumix S1 and S1R full-frame mirrorless cameras
Panasonic first announced its Lumix S1 and S1R full-frame mirrorless cameras last year, but now the company is sharing the full details of two products it hopes will be recognized for their photo chops just as much as for Panasonic’s well-known video strengths. The formula is something we’ve seen from both Sony and more recently Canon: one of them is a high-megapixel resolution beast that’s aimed at pro-level photographers — the 47.3MP S1R in this case — and the other is a more well-rounded camera for a wider audience of hybrid shooters. That’s the 24.2MP S1, which will retail for $2,499 (body only) or $3,399 with a 24-105mm lens. The S1R body costs $3,699 or $4,599 with the same lens.
Both use the L-Mount, a system owned by Leica with...

Amazon and Walmart hit hard after new e-commerce rules in India restrict sales
New e-commerce rules in India have plunged Amazon and Walmart’s local operations into disarray, as the retailers struggle to comply with new restrictions in a key growth market.
The legislation was outlined last year but came into force on Friday. The Indian government introduced the rules in order to level the playing field between global tech giants and domestic sellers. As a result, foreign online retailers are now banned from negotiating exclusives on products, or from selling items via vendors they hold an equity stake in.
According to reports from Bloomberg and Reuters, a last-minute rush to comply has caused chaos. Both Amazon’s Indian site and Walmart’s Flipkart (a local retailer the US company bought a majority stake in last...

Huawei’s 5G foldable phone is coming this month
Mobile World Congress in Barcelona is traditionally the year’s biggest show when it comes to mobile innovations, and Huawei will be keeping that tradition going with the introduction of its first foldable device. The invite just released by the Chinese company makes it abundantly clear that the foldable promised for this year — which was reportedly planned for release before Samsung’s — will get its official debut at MWC 2019. Huawei’s MWC keynote is scheduled for Sunday, February 24th, at 2PM Barcelona time / 8AM ET.

Is this Samsung’s first foldable phone?
Samsung Vietnam has reportedly posted, and removed, a video teaser for the upcoming Samsung Unpacked event scheduled for February 20th. In it, the company demonstrates a number of futuristic devices, including foldable phone. Question is: is it a concept or are we looking at Samsung’s very first phone with a foldable display?
Samsung first teased its premium foldable, expected to cost as must as $1,700, in November at its developer conference. It consisted of a 7.3-inch folding internal display with 1536 x 2152 resolution, flanked by a smaller 4.58-inch, 840 x 1960 display for use when closed. Unfortunately, the device was disguised by a chunky case to protect elements of the design. “There’s a device inside here,” said the presenter at...

Warner Bros. Wants A Familiar Face For Their New Batman
The era of Batfleck is no more, folks.
Aside from the possibility of a small cameo in Matt Reeves’ upcoming standalone outing for the Dark Knight, it looks like Ben Affleck is officially done with playing Gotham’s Caped Crusader, leaving The Batman in the hands of a young protégé. From what we understand, Reeves is eyeing an actor in his mid-20s for what will no doubt be a pretty different version of the iconic DC hero, though further details are being kept under lock and key for the time being.
That said, a new tweet from Variety’s Justin Kroll has shed some light on the situation tonight, as it tells us that Warner Bros. is looking for a familiar face to fill Affleck’s shoes. And that things are moving along faster than we thought.
“THE BATMAN sounds like it could move faster then people would expect with the date set. Hearing studio wants a familiar face and Reeves has his certain age in mind and that age is very specific like I said two names within 7 years of each other; “Too young, too Old’.
Unfortunately, Kroll would’t mention any frontrunners or candidates, but everyone from Kit Harington to Jack O’Connell has been rumored as the next Batman in recent weeks. And though it’ll likely be a while yet before we learn who the studio settles on, we can at least take comfort knowing that WB execs are seemingly enamored with Reeves’ script.
The Batman (or whatever it winds up being called) will soar into theaters on June 25th, 2021, before James Gunn’s Suicide Squad reboot follows suit in August of the same year, and as soon as we hear anything further on who Warner Bros. has in mind to replace Ben Affleck, we’ll be sure to let you know, so stay tuned.
