Dwayne Johnson Thinks The DCEU Will Have A Black Superman One Day
Seeing how Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will be going up against Idris Elba’s self-proclaimed “Black Superman” in Hobbs & Shaw in a couple weeks, and will be starring in Black Adam in the near future, one might see why he has a case of superheroes on the brain.
In an interview with Variety, Johnson was questioned about diversity in Hollywood, and within the comic book movie genre in particular, and he had some cool things to say.
“I think they’re doing great, I think obviously Marvel has done a tremendous job in building out,” The Rock stated. “And also, for me, we’re doing Black Adam with Warner Brothers and DC, we’re very excited about that.”
He finished with quite the interesting prediction though, revealing that he thinks we’ll see a black Superman one day:
“And maybe one day we’ll see a black Superman. You’re looking at him.”
Sorry, Rock…you’re only allowed to play one superhero per cinematic universe. I hear Wolverine is open, though? Not that we wouldn’t particularly like to see him take the role of Clark Kent, but the guy has his hands almost as full as Keanu Reeves these days. Jumanji: The Next Level hits theaters in December and Hobbs & Shaw arrives next month. And don’t even get me started with 2020.
Thanks to the multiverse though, Johnson’s prediction just might come true. With rumors that DC might be making a live-action Superman: Red Son movie, and decades of comic book material to use, the possibilities are endless. In fact, in the source material, on a different earth, the hero was actually black and went by the alter ego Calvin Ellis. He was also the President of the United States, being modeled after our own 44th president, Barack Obama.
But what do you think? Will the DCEU one day have a black Superman? As always, sound off down below with your thoughts.

Stranger Things Star Becomes The MCU’s Miles Morales In New Fan Art
We all love Tom Holland’s Peter Parker, of course, but there’s an increasing call for his fellow Spider-Man Miles Morales to enter the MCU. Part of that is probably to do with how popular Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse has become since its release last December, with Miles’ first starring role going down a hit with fans. So, maybe it’s time for the Ultimate Spider-Man to enter the live-action world, and here’s someone who’d be a good fit for the character.
Reddit user iMizuri shared a piece of fan art on the site that imagines Stranger Things star Caleb McLaughlin as Miles in the MCU. Their caption reads: “Caleb McLaughlin as Miles Morales! After the multiverse was kinda mentioned in FFH trailer, here is a live action art of a Miles Morales casting I thought would be cool.”
Check out their work in the gallery below:
McLaughlin isn’t a bad choice for a live-action Miles. At 17 years old, he’s also the perfect age to play the teenage hero who’s usually depicted as a couple of years younger than Peter was when he first got his powers. The actor’s star is also on the rise, since he’s world-famous from his role as Lucas Sinclair on the Netflix show, so Marvel would be smart to snap him up now. What’s more, Caleb himself has teased that he’d be interested in the part in an old Instagram post.
Luckily, Spider-Man: Far From Home did leave the door open for Miles Morales to appear in Spider-Man 3. Yes, there was talk of the multiverse, but this was just hot air made up by Mysterio. The five-year time jump is more promising, though, as Aaron Davis’ young nephew Miles (mentioned in Spider-Man: Homecoming) might just be old enough now to become a superhero.

Secret Mysterio Cameo Discovered In Spider-Man: Far From Home
Mysterio is one duplicitous dude in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Quentin Beck begins the movie as this apparent noble hero from another Earth who’s dedicated to saving our world from the evil Elemental creatures attacking Europe. It’s ultimately revealed, however, that Beck is a phoney who’s concocted this entire illusory scheme to get his hands on E.D.I.T.H., Tony Stark’s super-smart A.I. system that was entrusted to Peter Parker upon his death.
And it turns out there was one big hint at the truth about Mysterio early on in the film’s runtime that we all missed, as Beck can be glimpsed in the background during the first time that Peter witnesses the Elementals emerge in Venice. We didn’t notice him though as he’s wearing a cunning disguise – a “sexy dad outfit.”
Those are the words of Jake Gyllenhaal, who teased his secret cameo in Far From Home on his Instagram account a few days ago. Sharing two images of himself in a colorful shirt, shorts and cap, the actor encouraged fans to look for him wearing these clothes in the movie with the hashtag #wheresbeck. It didn’t take long before fans found the scene in question, and you can see Gyllenhaal’s pics and then the shots from FFH below.
This is a neat cameo, as it fits with what we later learn about Beck’s trickery. The Elementals are just holograms projected by a horde of drones, with their path of destruction faked with well-timed explosions and SFX. As such, Beck would need to be close by to control it all and to wait for his cue to turn up as Mysterio and conveniently save the day.
By the end of the movie, Mysterio is supposedly dead and posthumously frames Spidey for his misdeeds. Knowing Beck, though, his demise is probably all a ruse, too. Maybe we should be looking for him amongst the NYC crowd in Spider-Man: Far From Home‘s post-credits scene?

Spider-Man: Far From Home May’ve Teased The Next Falcon
In the recent Spider-Man: Far From Home, Peter Parker and Michelle “MJ” Jones officially became a couple, but is it possible that the wall-crawler’s first MCU love interest is being prepped for a comeback? That’s what’s implied in this new theory from Screen Rant, which suggests that Liz Toomes might ultimately take Sam Wilson’s place as the next Falcon.
As you likely recall, Laura Harrier’s character was revealed to be the daughter of Adrian Toomes, aka Vulture, in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. After her father was sent to prison, Liz’s arc was left somewhat unresolved, as she moved away to Vermont and never found out what really went down between Peter and Adrian.
Jump forward to the mid-credits scene of Far From Home, however, and our hero’s secret identity has been revealed to the world. From here, the theory goes that Liz could use Vulture’s technology to make a triumphant return. On the one hand, she may become a new villain and seek revenge against Peter, only to be convinced to switch sides. On the other hand, there’s the possibility that she’ll be inspired by Spider-Man to get into the superhero game herself, perhaps helping Peter out while he’s absent or on the run.
Though this may all sound a little farfetched, it’s worth bearing in mind that the comics have already tried something very similar. Specifically, in the Miles Morales: Spider-Man comic, Vulture’s granddaughter Tiana Toomes adopts the Falcon-esque superhero persona of Starling.
On top of that, in a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Far From Home director Jon Watts hinted at Liz’s continued relevance. And if you think that Peter’s old love interest just doesn’t have the experience and training yet to enter the field of battle, the filmmaker’s comments may offer a solution:
“Oh yeah… we talked about it a little bit. I mean, that’s something that I would love to explore more future films… [Harrier] was [five years older than everyone] when we shot the movie, so now she can just actually play her. Now she can just play her actual age.”
So, assuming that Liz survived the snap, how might she have spent those extra five years? Could she have used that time to learn more about her father’s technology, and matured into a formidable fighter in her own right? And if Liz really did become a superhero, wouldn’t it be oh so fitting if she assumed the persona of a certain bird-themed Avenger that Sam Wilson just recently put into retirement?
Of course, to get to this conclusion, you have to make a whole load of questionable assumptions, and as it stands, we have no solid evidence that Harrier is even returning in a future Marvel movie. Still, it’s a nice idea, and after the cliffhanger ending of Spider-Man: Far From Home, this would certainly be one way of bringing some welcome symmetry to Peter Parker’s solo trilogy.
