Olympus’ OM-D E-M1 Mark III wants to make it easier to aim for the stars
Olympus today announced the OM-D E-M1 Mark III, following up its predecessor from 2016. The weather-sealed design is almost untouched from last generation, though it’s more capable in the image quality department. In some cases, it even outclasses the 2019 E-M1X, Olympus’ pro-grade mirrorless Micro Four Thirds camera, while being more compact and affordable. This new entry costs $1,799.99 (body only), which is $200 less than Olympus charged for the E-M1 Mark II body.
The design is identical to that of the E-M1 Mark II — you can even use the same vertical grip on the Mark III) — but there are a few changes to note. Olympus added an extra custom mode option on the dial for a total of four user-customizable options. And like the E-M1X, this...

Nikon’s D6 pro camera is coming in April for $6,500
Last September, Nikon announced its new D6 pro camera but declined to provide any details on it. Today, the details are here: unsurprisingly, it’s a speed-focused DSLR that’ll likely be picked up by a lot of sports photographers headed to Tokyo for this summer’s Olympic games.
The D6 still uses a 20.8-megapixel full-frame sensor, but it has a new Expeed 6 processor that allows for 14 fps full-resolution burst shooting or up to 10.5 fps in live view. The camera can also take 8-megapixel shots at 30 fps or 2-megapixel at 60 fps for times when resolution is not a priority. Native ISO goes from 100 to 102,400.
Nikon has revamped the autofocus system for the D6, reducing the number of points from 153 to 105 but making all of them cross-type...

Nintendo’s latest SNES games for Switch include two US debuts
Nintendo isn’t just playing the hits when it comes to adding NES and SNES games to its Switch Online service. The latest additions are some pretty deep cuts, including two SNES titles that were never before released in the US.
The SNES titles are Pop’n Twinbee, the sixth entry in Konami’s colorful Twinbee “cute-em-up” series, and Namco’s Smash Tennis. Both of these games were translated into English and saw release in Europe as well as Japan, but neither series ever really took off stateside.
Also coming this month are Natsume’s hardcore side-scrolling NES action game Shadow of the Ninja and something called Eliminator Boat Duel, which I confess I have never heard of, but it looks pretty wild for a NES game about powerboats. All four...

Amber Heard Was Reportedly Serially Violent To Johnny Depp
Amber Heard and Johnny Depp‘s domestic violence case has turned into a real nightmare – then again, what domestic violence case isn’t? – and it seems to only be getting worse and worse as it goes on.
For those who haven’t been following along, the two Hollywood A-listers were married from 2015 to 2017 and are now deep into a very messy court case that has no end in sight. Their careers have even been influenced by it, too, especially Depp’s, who claims that he was dropped from Pirates of the Caribbean because of what’s going on.
Whether that’s truly what happened, we may not ever know, but another disturbing new allegation has surfaced today that once more paints Heard in a pretty bad light, following that audio tape leak. According to Depp’s lawyer, the Aquaman star was serially violent towards the Lone Ranger actor throughout their relationship. And furthermore, came up with an elaborate hoax to cover things up.
“The first confessional tape she made reveals a conversation any real abuse victim will recognize all too well,” he noted. “It exposes that Ms Heard perpetrated serial violence against Mr Depp, and then concocted an elaborate abuse hoax to cover it up. Ms Heard gives a motive for her violence: Mr Depp was always trying to ‘split’ to escape her abuse.”
Yikes. For their part, Heard’s lawyers responded with the following:
“The fact that a woman fights or talks back does not mean that she has not been the subject of repeated domestic violence and abuse. It’s a myth to say, as Mr Depp apparently is implying, that if Ms Heard slapped him, then she can’t also be a victim. That is just not true.”
As we’ve seen many times already, the lawyers for the two parties continue to play a he said-she said game and though these latest allegations against Heard are certainly troubling, it’s not like Depp has been a saint throughout the whole thing. But at this point, we’d just love to see them reach some kind of resolution and wrap these legal proceedings up.
Unfortunately, though, it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen and it seems we’ll be forced to sit through more messy drama between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard as the year continues to unfold. We’re just hopeful that it won’t impact their careers too much more than it already has.

Rian Johnson Says Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Made Him So Proud
As much as we hate to admit it, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker felt more like course-correction and melodramatic fan-service than a continuation of the previous movie.
In fact, the last chapter in the Skywalker Saga spends the majority of its runtime going against the ideas that were set up by Rian Johnson as the things that would define Disney’s Sequel Trilogy. Instead, Abrams decided to lean back on concepts that fans have wanted to see in the new movies ever since The Force Awakens premiered in 2015. The return of Emperor Palpatine, Rey’s lineage, and certain cameos from the past were just a few things that managed to anger The Last Jedi loyalists, which ultimately made Episode IX just as divisive.
Suffice it to say, if Rian Johnson’s story was about letting the past die, Abrams’ concluding act salvages what’s left of that past in an attempt to redeem the Sequel Trilogy and the saga as a whole. But what does Johnson think about the conflicting finale? Well, this past Sunday night, the filmmaker was asked about his thoughts on The Rise of Skywalker and interestingly enough, he had nothing negative to say.

In fairness, though, we wouldn’t expect anything less courteous from Rian about the cast and crew of a galaxy far, far away, since he’s proven time and again that he’s one of the nicest people in Hollywood. We’d assume that even if he secretly hated the movie, he’d never in a billion years let on about his true sentiments, which would not only be unprofessional but also troublesome.
Then again, it’s one thing to receive criticism and backlash from the fans, and quite another to see your work essentially undone. Perhaps Johnson has taken a page out of his own book by accepting the facts and letting the past die.
In any case, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker did conclude an age-old story as the last entry in the nine-movie saga, and we only need wait to see how the film will stand the test of time.
