Sylvester Stallone Shares New Fight Footage From Rocky IV Director’s Cut
With the entertainment industry still not up to full speed due to COVID-19, many filmmakers are spending the time revisiting their old works. Zack Snyder is busy with his version of Justice League, Francis Ford Coppola is having another crack at The Godfather Part III and Sylvester Stallone is reworking Rocky IV for its 35th anniversary. Thing is, unlike those other two movies, Rocky IV was already awesome, so what’s Stallone changing?
Right now, we don’t have many specifics. What we know for certain, though, is that he’s going to cut Paulie’s robot girlfriend, a decision that has rightly drawn wails of disappointment from fans. Sure, the Rocky franchise is maybe a bit too down to earth to start introducing robots, but it was one of the most memorable scenes in the movie. Stallone cannot be swayed, though, commenting that:
“The robot is going to the junkyard forever. No more robot.”
If the robot’s gone, then presumably he wants to make the tone a little more serious. That may be evidenced by some new footage he’s posted from the cutting room showing a slightly recut fight between Apollo Creed and Ivan Drago.
This match kicks off the movie’s plot and sees Rocky’s longtime rival and friend killed in the ring by the hulking Drago. It was pretty brutal in the original version, so cranking up the violence may be a hint that Stallone isn’t pulling any punches in his new edit.

Rocky IV had long-term impacts on the franchise, with Apollo’s death setting in motion the events of Creed and Creed II bringing back Ivan Drago as the trainer of his young son. Right now, we don’t have any precise details on when or how this will be released, but Stallone’s post says it’s “almost done,” so fingers crossed it’s soon.
And though I’m sad about the loss of the robot, at least the theatrical cut on my DVD shelf isn’t going anywhere.

Tom Holland Says The Devil All The Time Was A Huge Step For Him
Tom Holland has a new movie just days away, and in his words, it was a huge step for him. The Spider-Man star will take the lead role in The Devil All The Time, a new Netflix thriller that’s set to go to some very dark places.
Here’s what he shared in a recent Instagram post, which also highlighted how much he enjoyed working with director Antonio Campos:
Working with [Campos] was an absolute pleasure. The Devil All The Time was a huge step for me to take and I can’t imagine anyone better to do it with. The 16th of September this film is yours on @netflix so let me know what you think and enjoy!
If you’ve seen the trailer (featured above), you’ve probably already got an impression of what Holland means when he says this was a huge step. Taking the lead in what looks to be such a psychologically challenging movie will place demands on his acting ability that he hasn’t previously faced, as the forever-teenaged star plays Arvin Russell, a young man who finds himself confronted with sinister forces in Knockemstiff, Ohio.
You know, it’s pleasing to see an actor who broke through as a franchise babe making such an effort to diversify their credits. A few days ago, we took a look at all the movies he has lined up for release in the next 18 months, and the range is striking. There’s a sci-fi adaptation, a video game vehicle, a crime drama…Holland’s doing the lot. If even a couple of them come off, he’ll have established himself as a performer with an eye for viable projects. The first test of his judgement (and his chops) arrives on September 16th.
If you’ve got any hopes for The Devil All The Time, leave a comment with them below. Spider-Man fans may be in for a rude awakening if they’re expecting more of the same because spoiler alert, it won’t be. Best wait for Spider-Man 3 if psychological terror isn’t your thing.

Kevin Hart Opens Up On Why He Kept His COVID-19 Diagnosis A Secret
The ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect us all in different ways, even as the number of cases grows more stable. And as the world begins to reopen, it becomes tempting to overlook just how threatening the virus can be, despite more and more public figures speaking up about receiving positive test results.
Kevin Hart was only one of many celebrities diagnosed with COVID-19 as far back as March, though he chose to stay quiet on the matter until recently. The comedian and actor – perhaps best known for the rebooted Jumanji series – appeared at Dave Chappelle’s An Intimate Socially Distanced Affair comedy show in Yellow Springs, Ohio and at one point, Hart gave an explanation for his silence that appeared to blur the line between performance and candor.
“The problem is that I had it around the same time as Tom Hanks, and I couldn’t say anything because he’s more famous than I am,” said Hart.
Although this could have been nothing more than Hart continuing his longstanding streak of self-deprecating humor, he would not have been wrong to assume that his diagnosis may have been overshadowed by the other actor. Tom Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson, first contracted the virus while the former was shooting a biopic about the life of Elvis Presley near the beginning of the pandemic.
The couple were the first high-profile celebrities to become infected and created a noticeably greater impact on the perception of COVID-19 than peers like Idris Elba and Antonio Banderas, who were diagnosed shortly thereafter as a result.
Kevin Hart didn’t reveal much else about his struggle with the virus at the show or on social media, so he may want to keep it private for now. With that said, he’s earned a reputation for being open with fans about his experiences, so we may learn more from his perspective very soon.

Stephen King Says Vince Vaughn Deserves An Oscar Nod For His New Movie
Vince Vaughn may have shot towards the top of the A-list by starring in a series of hit studio comedies like Old School, Dodgeball and Wedding Crashers, but he eventually became too comfortable playing the same character over and over again, which inevitably resulted in the law of diminishing returns setting in and his star fading as a result.
However, over the last few years, the 50 year-old has shown the potential to reinvent himself as a critically acclaimed dramatic actor after lending solid support in Mel Gibson’s Hacksaw Ridge, re-teaming with Gibson for gritty neo-noir thriller Dragged Across Concrete and delivering a phenomenal and completely unexpected performance in the brutal Brawl in Cell Block 99.
Vaughn’s next movie will look to balance both sides of his screen persona, as he headlines the latest Blumhouse slasher, but this one has a hell of a twist. As you might be able to infer from the title, Freaky gives the body swap comedy a horror spin, and sees Vaughn’s serial killer end up trapped in the body of a high school student played by The Society‘s Kathryn Newton.
Stephen King is more than happy to share his movie and TV recommendations with his social media followers, and he recently hyped the first trailer for Freaky by claiming that Vaughn’s performance already looks like it could be awards worthy, as you can see below.
Based on the trailer of FREAKY, Vince Vaughn has GOT to get nominated for an Academy Award. This looks fucking AWESOME!
— Stephen King (@StephenKing) September 10, 2020
While it seems unlikely that a middle-aged man trapped in the body of a teenage girl will gain much recognition at the Academy Awards, Freaky is nonetheless shaping up to be a whole lot of fun. Vince Vaughn looks to be having the time of his life and will easily run away with the entire movie, which has the potential to be the latest major hit to roll off the Blumhouse production line.

Today I learned Google Sheets now lets you link multiple words in a single cell
I find that Google Sheets can be an incredible tool for organizing projects — the endless rows and columns let me track and categorize things to my heart’s content. (You should see my byzantine spreadsheet for my family’s personal finances.)
Until recently, though, I’ve run into one major limitation that irked my organizational brain. If I wanted to add hyperlinks to a cell, I could only hyperlink an entire cell instead of hyperlinking individual words inside it. That meant, for example, if I wanted to track interesting links about personal finance in my spreadsheet, I’d have to make individual cells for each one of those hyperlinks, which could quickly fill up way more cells than I’d like.

Fast & Furious 9 Confirmed To Head To Outer Space
Ever since the Fast & Furious franchise reinvented itself as a globetrotting action-packed blockbuster series with the fifth installment, fans have been left wondering how Dominic Toretto and his extended family could possibly keep raising the bar when it came to the preposterous set pieces that had turned the brand into an unstoppable box office behemoth.
Over the last four entries in The Fast Saga and spinoff Hobbs & Shaw, the gang have destroyed almost every mode of transport imaginable in every conceivable fashion, which you would think had left the creative team running short of options. Any doubts were put to rest by the first trailer for F9, which saw a car plucked out of midair by a magnetized stealth bomber for reasons that remain unclear, and probably won’t make much sense when the movie finally arrives next year, but nobody goes into a new Fast and Furious expecting anything other than mayhem and destruction.
One thing fans have always wanted to see is the filmmakers go for broke and take the crew into outer space, which would have sounded ridiculous a decade ago, but the main cast could probably go toe-to-toe with the Avengers at this point and nobody would bat an eyelid. Ludacris recently hinted that the delayed ninth entry could cross that final frontier, and now Michelle Rodriguez has confirmed the news after being caught off guard by the line of questioning in a recent interview.
“Oh, no way. How did you guys find that out? See what happens? People start talking behind the scenes, man. When a movie doesn’t come out and forget about it, things get out. Nobody was supposed to know that. Oh, well, no, I’m not, I’m not, I’m not lucky enough to hit space, but we did get a female writer and showed a lot of love, I think, on this one. Thanks to Justin Lin. We were able to, to find a little bit more attention and love for the girls in the movie. And so I’m really hopeful that that, that shows through in the final product.”
Rodriguez’s Letty might not be going to space, but it certainly sounds like at least a few members of the ensemble will be heading into the great unknown. Quite how it happens in the context of Fast & Furious 9 is anyone’s guess at this point, but leaving your brain at the door has always been a key part of getting the most enjoyment out of the unashamedly ridiculous franchise.
