Here’s How Keanu Reeves Could Look As The MCU’s Wolverine
Keanu Reeves’ career has been on a “most excellent” upswing as of late. The actor, who spent most of his post-Matrix years awkwardly popping up in romantic comedies or headlining critically panned genre films (47 Ronin anyone?), surprised everyone with the fantastic 2014 hit John Wick. Now, just five years and two John Wick sequels later, Keanu’s once more a Hollywood darling and may be making his way into the superhero genre again (after 2005’s Constantine).
In a recent Interview with BuzzFeed, the actor was quizzed on which Marvel or DC character he’d want to bring to life on the big screen, and he actually had an answer ready:
“When I was a kid, I always wanted to play Wolverine. So, Wolverine.”
Of course, the internet was all for the idea of Keanu playing the iconic mutant and now, thanks to fan artist Mizuri, we have an idea of how he could look in the role. And we must say, we definitely dig it.
True, The Matrix star may be a bit too tall to play Wolvie, but you certainly can’t say he doesn’t have the acting chops for the role. While he’s known for his calm demeanor in person and on screen, imagine how much fun it’d be to see such a reserved performer go big and let loose for the X-Men leader’s signature Berserker Rage.
Then again, given that Reeves already has a perfectly good action franchise of his own going, he may not have time to join the MCU. Even if we’ve already heard that the X-Men won’t be rebooted for at least another couple of years. The time will eventually come though when audiences will need to get used to seeing a new Wolverine on their screens – whether they like it or not – and Reeves would certainly be a choice that we could get behind.

The Internet Slams Disney For Those New Lion King Posters
There’s been some contention amongst film fans recently regarding Disney claiming the upcoming Lion King is a “live-action” remake considering most of its characters and settings are CGI creations. After the first trailer dropped, many noticed that if anything, the digital animation in the newer movie fails to capture the dynamism of the original, and a new batch of posters released last week only reinforced that thought.
Each one-sheet focused on a close up of singular photo-realistic character, and while some at least looked cute, like the lion cubs Simba and Nala, others just served as grotesque reminders that warthogs and red-billed hornbills aren’t as cuddly as we’d like to imagine. Even still, the fact that most of the images look like cropped stock photos straight from Shutterstock didn’t quell any detractors’ concerns.
Dropping the character one-sheets at the end of the week not only gave critics plenty of free time to mock the images. but create hilariously biting posters of their own as well.

The good news, for Disney at least, is that The Lion King remake is expected to have an elephant-sized impact at the box office. There are even rumblings that it has the potential to rival Avengers: Endgame’s massive haul, which makes sense considering the 1994 animated classic has become somewhat of a cultural milestone for kids of the ‘90s. Plus, it has an emotionally resonant story that anyone in the whole family could enjoy, from small children to the oldest of curmudgeons. Even Seth Rogen, Pumbaa himself, said the film made him cry.
So, try to forget about those clunky posters and have those tissues handy, as The Lion King hits theaters on July 19th.,

Ron Howard Says The Dark Tower Should’ve Had More Horror
Oh, Ronnie H. It’s been a while since you’ve had a major hit on your hands now, huh? You tried to save Solo: A Star Wars Story, you desperately tried to add some heart to the lifeless post-Fox seasons of Arrested Development, and, most hurtfully, you failed to produce a faithful adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower, allowing an inexperienced, visionless director to tackle a massive project. At least now, in hindsight, you can reflect on what really went wrong: the pursuit of PG-13, and a lack of grit.
In a recent interview with the Happy Sad Confused Podcast, Ron Howard was asked about The Dark Tower‘s under-performance, and what could have made the film better. Right off the bat, the Apollo 13 director said that the pic should have been more of a horror story. “I think that it landed in a place…that it could be PG-13 and sort of a boy’s adventure,” he said of the initial focus. “I think if we could’ve made a darker, more hard-boiled look and make it The Gunslinger’s character study more than Jake,” Howard says, “I think in retrospect that would’ve been more exciting.”
Later on in the podcast, the Happy Days star claimed that the length of the film was an issue, too, admitting that they should have “straight-on tackled it as television first.” Ironic now that the book is indeed being adapted into a new show, run by the guy who helmed seasons 2 and 3 of…The Walking Dead. Yikes.
“I do think it was just a sense of maybe too much listening to what you think that the marketplace is calling for instead of the essence of what Stephen King was giving us,” Howard concludes, surprising nobody.
Dang, man, what’s it going to take to get another good adaptation of King? I just don’t get it. The new Pet Semetary was really underwhelming and I just lost all faith in the television adaptation of The Dark Tower upon the discovery of Glen Mazzara’s involvement. Then again, they are trying Salem’s Lot again, so who knows?

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Has An Awesome Indiana Jones Easter Egg
You could spend days in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Disneyland’s brand-new theme park attraction, and you still wouldn’t be able to see all of its hidden secrets and surprises. Of course, that should be expected of an area built to resemble a historically dense media franchise like Star Wars. Before it was sold to Disney, creator George Lucas pretty much dedicated his entire life to filling out its many worlds with comic books, cartoons, and expanded novels; every character, no matter how small, had a story. Now, it seems like Disney has tipped its hat to Lucas’ contributions by referencing his next biggest franchise in an Easter Egg at Galaxy’s Edge.
ScreenRant recently attended the opening of the Disneyland attraction, spending ample time in the planet Batuu’s Black Spire Outpost, and specifically in Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities within. There, they made a shocking discovery, which you can see for yourself in the video below:
Did you spot it? According to the report, hidden amongst the crates of spice and old warrior garb, is the Ark the Covenant from the Indiana Jones series.
It’s a pretty neat Easter Egg for Star Wars fans and Indiana Jones fans alike, a Venn diagram that’s safe to say mostly overlaps. Who knows what lengths Dok-Ondar took to retrieve the biblical artifact, but it’s nice that fans can get a peek at it without traversing through hundred and hundreds of crates in some hidden warehouse.
In related news, it’s only fitting that Indiana Jones himself, Harrison Ford (who we all know also played Han Solo), made an appearance this weekend to christen the site upon its grand opening, dedicating it to the late Chewbacca actor Peter Mayhew. Those lucky enough to gain early access spent hours scouring every nook and cranny of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, where you can build your own lightsaber, fly the Millennium Flacon, and drink a tall glass of blue Bantha Milk. For fans, it’s been a long time coming, but thankfully it sounds like it’s living up to the hype.
