Hugh Jackman Says His Wolverine Could Beat Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk

Hugh Jackman and Mark Ruffalo are both up for Best Actor in a Limited Series or Movie at the Emmys, with the Australian star nominated for HBO’s Bad Education, while the MCU regular is up for his role in I Know This Much is True. It remains to be seen which one of the pair will come out on top at the awards show, but when it comes to a battle between their Marvel characters, Wolverine and Hulk, Jackman doesn’t think there’s any contest. Bruce Banner is going down.

Jackman recently spoke with Sirius XM, where his friendship with Ruffalo came up and the longtime X-Men star joked that Logan would definitely win against the Jade Giant in a fight. He even pulled some Marvel history out of his pocket to prove he knows what he’s talking about.

“I’m trying to reach out to him but he’s not taking my calls so I guess I’m somehow laying the track for another feud here,” Jackman joked. “Which thank goodness we are not in the same room together…. I’m laughing because Mark’s a very good friend of mine and I actually haven’t spoken to him about it. He’s absolutely astonishing in the show. I mean I think he is one of the best actors, certainly of our generation…. But Wolverine would beat him for sure let’s just be very clear…. I don’t know if you know this but The Wolverine actually appeared first in a Hulk comic. He was like a last page, some guy coming so it was The Hulk series he appeared so that’s sort of where that feud came from and then Wolverine sort of took on this whole life so I’m sure The Hulk is very jealous.”

Of course, Marvel fans everywhere would love for this much talked-about Wolverine vs. Hulk match to actually be realized on screen one day. With the X-Men set to be folded into the MCU, it’s finally possible for the two characters to cross over in the movies and recreate that very first comic book meeting that Jackman mentions. Unfortunately, however, the actor seems adamant(ium) that Logan will remain his final time playing Wolvie.

But still, rumors have swirled that a Wolverine vs. Hulk film is in early development, as Marvel knows how much fans want to see it happen. Who could play Logan in the MCU, though, we don’t yet know. Folks have come up with various potential castings – Taron Egerton, Tom Hardy and Dacre Montgomery seem to be pretty popular choices – but whoever has to measure up to Jackman will have a tough job cut out for them.

Tell us, though, do you agree that Wolverine would easily best the Hulk? Have your say in the comments.

Netflix Reportedly Discussing Doing A Witcher Movie

Even though the second season has only been back shooting for two weeks following a lengthy hiatus as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic, it already seems clear that Netflix have huge plans for The Witcher. As well as the return of Henry Cavill’s Geralt of Rivia, a spinoff series that traces the origins of the very first Witcher was also announced, and Blood Origin might not be the last we see of the rapidly-expanding universe, either.

With eight volumes in the collection of novels and short stories, the streaming giant has plenty of material to mine for further adaptations, and Blood Origin is no doubt just the first tentative step towards seeing how audiences react to a new adventure set in the same world that doesn’t feature Cavill’s grunting Geralt. There’s already been rumors that Dave Bautista is in talks for a role in the third season, and we’re also hearing that a feature-length movie could be a possibility.

According to our intel – which comes from the same sources that told us Blood Origin was in the works long before it was officially confirmed – Netflix see a movie as the ideal way to continue building up The Witcher as one of their marquee properties. The discussions are still at a very early stage and while nothing can be confirmed just yet, they’d prefer to tell an original story. Not something based on the novels.

However, there’s hopes behind the scenes that Geralt would still remain the focal point of The Witcher‘s movie debut, allowing Cavill to apply his monosyllabic excellence to a feature-length tale. And given how evidently he enjoys playing the character, there’s little doubt that he’d jump at the chance. Of course, one potential issue could be with his schedule, having recently extended his contract as the DCEU’s Superman, but for now, we’ll just have to wait and see how this all pans out.

Dota 2’s The International 10 prize pool has hit a record-breaking $34,396,000 (and counting)

Dota 2’s The International, one of the biggest esports tournaments in the world, has broken its own record as the most lucrative esports event, with this year’s prize pool already totaling more than $34,396,000. The previous record was a prize pool of $34.3 million from last year’s event.

Dota 2 developer Valve was forced to indefinitely delay this year’s iteration, The International 10, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. That delay was announced in April. Valve hasn’t yet announced a new date. It’s not clear if the tournament will even be taking place during 2020 at all.

Valve said that it “can’t yet commit” to a new date for The International 10 or the return of the Dota Pro Circuit, a series of events that determine who qualifies for The...

Dark web drug haven Empire Market has mysteriously disappeared

Illustration by Alex Castro / The Verge

Empire Market, one of the biggest dark web marketplaces, has been offline for three days, Bloomberg reports. It’s unclear what has happened to the site’s administrators, whose identities remain unknown.

According to a cybersecurity expert interviewed by Bloomberg, there are typically two outcomes for marketplaces like Empire Market. Either the admins are arrested, or they steal users’ deposits.

Empire Market was popular for drug deals. It also offered fake documents, such as passports, and malware. After other sites, such as the Silk Road and AlphaBay, shut down, Empire Market was the most-trafficked dark web marketplace, Bloomberg reported.

The goods on Empire Market were exchanged for cryptocurrency. In order to operate on a market...

Joe Budden is taking his podcast off Spotify because the company ‘is pillaging’ his audience

Joe Budden

Joe Budden, one of Spotify’s biggest exclusive podcasters, is leaving the platform. He and his show will no longer be exclusive to Spotify after September 23rd, he says in his most recent episode while also seemingly suggesting it might not be available on Spotify at all.

“September 23rd, I cannot tell you where this podcast will be,” he says. “But as it stands, I can tell you where it will not be, and that is Spotify.”

He takes the announcement as an opportunity to scorch Spotify and detail his history with the company, which, in the years since he signed his deal, has become a sizable competitor in the podcast field. He claims his show exceeded Spotify’s audience reach expectations by 900 percent to the point that his listeners...
