Glass is set to bring to a close a loose trilogy 18 years in the making, as M. Night Shyamalan’s upcoming super-powered thriller will bring together Bruce Willis’ David Dunn and Samuel L. Jackson’s titular Mr. Glass from Unbreakable with James McAvoy’s Kevin Wendell Crumb from Split for what promises to be a psychological exploration of heroes and villains and likely, a welcome antidote to the mainstream entries in the genre.
Also coming along for this alternate superhero crossover that’s about as far from Avengers: Infinity War as you can get is Anya Taylor-Joy, who played Casey, one of Crumb’s victims in Split. While talking to Collider, the actress revealed what was different about filming Glass from her previous experience in the Shyamalan-verse, and it seems it was the sense of working on something “epic” and “monumental” that made it exciting to come into work everyday.
“With Split, there was a giant sense of adventure and discovery. We were making something different, and it was weird and everything was so intense. There was a real sense of adventure with Split, whilst with Glass, it felt so epic. Every single day, everyone was so happy to be there because we were aware that we were making cinematic history. That’s a big deal.
Continuing on, she said:
And then, you see Sam [Jackson] in his costume. I’m a true fangirl, so I was just like, ‘Oh, my god, that’s Elijah Price! That’s crazy! And I’m in a scene with him. That’s nuts!’ I think we were all just so excited to be a part of it, and all very grateful to be a part of something so monumental.”
As you surely know, Glass will also feature Sarah Paulson in the key role of Dr. Ellie Staple, the psychiatrist who brings Dunn, Price and Crumb together to treat what she believes is their shared delusion that they’re comic book characters. It’s not yet known how Taylor-Joy’s Casey fits into this, but the trailer saw her reuniting with her former captor.
From the actress’ comments above, we also know that she’ll encounter Mr. Glass as well. It doesn’t sound like she’ll be in good company, then, so she may need David Dunn’s help during the movie if she’s to come out of it in one piece.
