Why There’s No Point Now In Making Any More Avengers Movies

In the biggest non-surprise of the year, Avengers: Endgame is crushing the global box office, with a billion-dollar opening weekend becoming a huge possibility. Money aside, the fans have given it a thumbs-up to go with the critics’ stamp of approval, proving that Marvel Studios is Kryptonite to bad reviews. All in all, it’s the perfect and supreme sendoff to an era of superhero films that will not be soon forgotten.

Without giving away too much for those who haven’t seen it yet, Avengers: Endgame provided finality for many of its heroes. It was a close of a chapter and you’d be wise to not bank on seeing the original team assembled in Joss Whedon’s The Avengers together again. In fact, even Robert Downey Jr. said on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that “the [Avengers’] future’s very uncertain.”

Of course, this doesn’t exclude a different incarnation of the team, as we exclusively revealed that Marvel Studios is developing a New Avengers film. The group will purportedly include Kate Bishop’s Hawkeye, Hulkling, Iron Lad, Patriot, Wiccan, Stature and Vision (not Paul Bettany’s version).

In the comics, there have been numerous versions of the Avengers featuring a host of characters, so this isn’t anything new. The thing is, this isn’t the comics we’re talking about; it’s the movies. After such an incredible and record-breaking run, isn’t it time to just let the Avengers rest in peace once and for all?
