Avengers: Endgame Cast List Teases Some Surprise Returning Characters

IMDb is always going to be a dubious source for casting details, especially for a film that’s had as many fake rumors and leaks as Avengers: Endgame, but until the next big Marvel Studios reveal comes our way, surely there’s no harm in seeing what curious and unexpected characters are reportedly making an appearance in the Avengers: Infinity War sequel.

Since IMDb pages can be edited by the public, there’s always the possibility that certain actors have been included based on the assumptions and theories of fans. The mention of Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One, for instance, might well be inspired by the hint dropped by producer Michael Grillo a few months ago that Doctor Strange’s old mentor will be coming back, though her return sounds likely either way. Similarly, the inclusion of Frank Grillo as Crossbones on the cast list could be drawing on the actor’s claim a few months ago that he’ll be appearing in “flashback,” though he’s since muddied the waters by alleging that he didn’t actually mean it.

One genuine surprise on this list, however, is Ty Simpkins, who played the kid named Harley Keener in Iron Man 3. When the 2013 film came out, Simpkins was only 12 years old, meaning that Tony Stark’s little friend has probably done a lot of growing since then. If Harley really is appearing in Endgame, you can therefore expect him to feature in the present day scenes, rather than through flashback or time travel.

For less familiar faces, you may have heard already about the inclusion of Monica Mathis as ’70s Car Girl #1′ and Miles Webb as ‘1970s Scientist / Lab Worker,’ both of which have prompted speculation that the film just might be taking us back to the aforementioned decade. Beyond that, you can also see mentions of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents and Peter Parker’s classmates, not to mention every superhero who was killed in the Decimation (though interesting, not any prior fatalities like Loki, Gamora or Vision).

Perhaps there’s nothing to read into here, but if any of these unconfirmed cast listings are genuine, then we’ll surely find out when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th, 2019.
