Mostly fans are talking about the future of the X-Men when it comes to the possibilities of Marvel Studios gaining new heroes due to the Disney/Fox merger, but let’s not forget about the Fantastic Four. Marvel’s First Family are arguably more in need of a change of hands as Fox – sorry, guys – have never managed to pull off a great FF movie after three attempts.
As we know well by now, Ant-Man and the Wasp director Peyton Reed is a massive fan of Reed Richard and friends, as he’s voiced his opinions on the potential for an Ant-Man/Fantastic Four crossover, the failed 2015 reboot and his own interest in making an MCU outing for the gang.
While speaking to ComicBook.com, Reed was once again asked what he thought about the Fantastic Four becoming part of the franchise. Obviously, he’s excited, but he also proved that he’s been thinking about it a lot by suggesting that there are six ways for the team to be folded into the MCU that would be “satisfying.”
“Well, listen: as a fan, I certainly find that intriguing, because in the comics realm, the Fantastic Four are the crown jewels of the Marvel Universe. They are the first family of Marvel. I think there is a version of Fantastic Four that has yet to be rendered in the movies that would really, really excite me, and I certainly think there are at least six different ways to introduce Fantastic Four into the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a really satisfying way.”
Honestly, given how passionate Reed clearly is about the Four, if I were Kevin Feige I’d hand them over to him. After all, the director’s explained before that he pitched a 60-set Fantastic Four movie to Fox way back when and that sounded better than anything we’ve got so far. We’d be interested to know, though, what those six different ways he’d bring them into the MCU are. Is one of them that fan theory that the Avengers Tower will be rechristened as the Baxter Building?
Perhaps, but tell us, how would you like to see the Fantastic Four brought into the MCU? And do you think the Ant-Man director would do a good job with the characters? Leave your thoughts in the comments section down below.
