New Solo: A Star Wars Story Deleted Scene Finds Han On Trial

Is there another Star Wars character more iconic than Han Solo? You’d be hard-pressed to find one.

This is, after all, the only figure popular enough to warrant his own standalone movie, and while Solo: A Star Wars Story didn’t exactly set the box office on fire ($392M), it’s a wonderful peek into Han’s early days as an Imperial cadet, before he ultimately slips and slides into the galaxy’s criminal underworld.

For Alden Ehrenreich’s titular smuggler, they’re very much the proving grounds, and you can’t say Han Solo wasn’t able to overcome impossible odds – albeit with a little luck and a lot of charm. And that’s exactly what transpires during today’s newly-revealed deleted scene for Solo, in which our wisecracking hero stands trial before the Galactic Empire for his reckless piloting of a TIE Fighter.

Via EW:

This is one of eight deleted/extended scenes set to be included in Solo‘s upcoming Blu-ray release, which will become available on Blu-ray 4K Ultra HD, standard Blu-ray, DVD and On-Demand services from September 25th – two weeks after its digital premiere. That’s right, the Ron Howard-directed Anthology pic is about to makes its home video debut this coming Friday, meaning you’ll be able to indulge in a little Star Wars-themed adventure over the course of the weekend.

Here’s a reminder of those other deleted/extended scenes:

  • Proxima’s Den
  • Corellian Foot Chase
  • Han Solo: Imperial Cadet
  • The Battle of Mimban: Extended
  • Han Versus Chewie: Extended
  • Snowball Fight!
  • Meet Dryden: Extended
  • Coaxium Double-Cross

Prior to the movie’s lowly box office return, Lucasfilm had purportedly mapped out plans for an entire Solo trilogy featuring Alden Ehrenreich’s nerf-herder, though it’s seemingly still under review. Indeed, the priority for the folks at Skywalker Ranch appears to be Star Wars: Episode IX, which is expected to make its grand debut next Christmas.
