Over the past couple of decades, Marvel movies have been chock-full of interesting (and sometimes hard-to-spot) cameos. Just look at Avengers: Endgame; the latest MCU film not only featured the final appearance of legendary comic book writer Stan Lee (who passed away late last year at the age of 95), but it also reintroduced a handful of minor characters, including Alexander Pierce, Jane Foster and Howard Stark, just to name a few.
With so many cameos, you’d think that at some point, Kevin Feige would have made an on-screen appearance by now. Believe it or not though, the president of Marvel Studios has yet to make his big debut, though not without good reason. As reported by Epic Stream, Feige actually planned to make his way in front of the camera nearly two decades ago, but some last minute changes got in the way.
Recently, Kevin took to Reddit to participate in an Ask Me Anything (AMA), a Q&A session where users can ask celebs and other famous figures their most pressing questions. One Redditor pointed out that a few MCU directors (such as Joe Russo) have made cameos in the past, while Taika Watiti even had a starring role in multiple films.
Feige was quick to explain why he’s been absent from the big screen for so long. It turns out, the head of Marvel is a bit camera shy, and while he did make a brief cameo in 2000’s X-Men, the scene was ultimately cut from the theatrical release.
“I don’t like being on camera, but I did cameo in a deleted scene in the first X-Men as a Weapon X technician. I was completely covered in a hood, mask and goggles.”
This answer might not satisfy longtime Marvel fans, but thankfully, Kevin did drop some important tidbits. He confirmed that information regarding Phase 4 would be coming soon and teased future appearances of Hulk. Personally, a few of us here at We Got This Covered would love to see Feige make an on-screen cameo sometime soon, though we won’t hold our breath.
