Now that the likes of Year One, The Dark Knight Returns, The Killing Joke and Under the Red Hood are out of the way, it’s long overdue that Batman: Hush be adapted as an animated film. Not only does the source material remain my favorite comic book story arc to feature the Caped Crusader, but it also serves as a perfect jumping on point because it includes so many essential characters.
Fortunately, we won’t have to wait much longer for it to arrive, as the flick will be made available digitally beginning on July 2oth, with 4K Ultra HD Combo Pack and Blu-ray Combo Pack releases set to follow on August 13th. Additionally, it’ll also hit the DC Universe streaming service on the latter date given.
When it comes to the voice cast, Jason O’Mara returns for yet another adventure as the Dark Knight himself. Jennifer Morrison, meanwhile, voices a Catwoman who’s long overdue for appearing in this series of movies. Furthermore, Jerry O’Connell, Rebecca Romijn and Rainn Wilson will be back as Superman, Lois Lane and Lex Luthor, respectively, while Sean Maher (Nightwing), Bruce Thomas (Jim Gordon), Stuart Allan (Damian Wayne), Maury Sterling (Thomas Elliot) and James Garrett (Alfred) also star. And interestingly enough, Peyton List will reprise her role from Gotham by lending her pipes to Poison Ivy – not to mention pulling double duty as Batgirl.
Before we get to the bonus features, let’s take a look at the official synopsis:
An adaptation of the seminal DC classic tale, Batman: Hush centers on a shadowy new villain known only as Hush, who uses Gotham’s Rogues Gallery to destroy Batman’s crime-fighting career, as well as Bruce Wayne’s personal life – which has already been complicated by a relationship with Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman.
Now, as for that supplemental content, there sure is a lot of it:
