Avengers: Infinity War left Bruce Banner and his big green alter ego with some serious issues to work out, and thanks to some promotional images and a few juicy leaks, a lot of fans are now predicting that Avengers: Endgame will see the character’s two sides merge to become the Professor Hulk persona from the comics.
Of course, the question still remains of just how Bruce and Hulk could end up coming together like this, but it’s certainly looking more and more likely that this is the path Marvel will lead the hero down. And thanks to a brand new TV spot, we may have just got our first bit of confirmation that Professor Hulk will indeed appear in the film.
At the very start of the promo, we can hear someone say “we’re going in 3, 2, 1,” and it’s very clearly Mark Ruffalo speaking the line. Only, it doesn’t sound like the Mark Ruffalo we know and love. Rather, it sounds more like a mix between the actor’s voice and the Hulk’s voice, which could indicate that this is actually the Professor Hulk persona speaking. Given that we don’t see him on screen when he talks, it’s impossible to say for sure, but the evidence is certainly mounting.
For those who don’t know, Professor Hulk is basically the merged medium of Banner and the Jade Giant’s personalities, pairing together Bruce’s smarts with Hulk’s awesome strength. In many ways, introducing the character into Endgame would be the perfect way to wrap up the hero’s storyline across the MCU. And we already know that the film will conclude a loose arc that’s been building across his past three movie appearances – this, Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Infinity War.
Of course, we don’t know if this will be the last we’ll see of Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but with the curtain closing for many of the OG Avengers – except Black Widow, that is – it’s certainly possible that this will be his final film and as such, Marvel might just give the fans what they’ve been wanting to see for a while now.
In any case, all will be revealed in just a few days, when Avengers: Endgame hits cinemas on April 26th.
