What the hell happened to Johnny Depp? Once the coolest man in Hollywood, he’s now a walking caricature. Where his performances were once layered and sensitive, he’s now little more than a collection of weird tics, odd costumes and bad makeup. And then there’s his Chernobyl of a personal life…
I don’t need to rehash the allegations made against him by his former wife Amber Heard (and the counter-allegations made by Depp), as they’re currently going through the courts and you can read about them in any trashy tabloid. But, in a seriously depressing twist, we’re about to learn whether Depp tried to get Heard blacklisted from Warner Bros. and kicked off Aquaman.
These allegations stem from a lawsuit Depp filed against his former representative Jake Bloom. One of the witnesses potentially due to be deposed is disgraced Warner Bros. chairman Kevin Tsujihara and he’s being asked to testify in support of Bloom’s case, where he’ll also (according to THR) “be asked to testify under oath about whether or not he played a role in ‘blacklisting’ Heard at Warner Bros.”
This pertains to an allegation that Depp personally tried to convince Tsujihara to fire Amber Heard from Aquaman, using his starring role as Grindelwald in Warner Bros.’ Fantastic Beasts films as leverage. Reports state that Depp also attempted to get Heard blacklisted at other studios, though Tsujihara is the only executive who’s been deposed.
Given that Heard was in Aquaman, has been confirmed to appear in Aquaman 2 and received great notices for her performance as Mera, it’s obvious that Depp didn’t get his way. If these rumors to do turn out to be true though, then I think it’s time to wrap up the Johnny Depp show for good. This is despicable and devious behavior, and if Tsujihara confirms that it happened, then the last shred of respect I had for the actor just left the station.
