Earlier this month, Avengers: Endgame co-directors Anthony and Joe Russo confirmed that the runtime of next week’s release sits at 3 hours and 58 seconds. But for those who aren’t too fussed about catching the movie’s last-minute bonus scenes, it seems that the film’s length minus the credits has now been revealed.
Comic Book Movie reports that the credits to the Avengers: Infinity War sequel start at the 2:48:56 mark. This leaves us with an extra 12 minutes and 2 seconds after the main story wraps, which sounds like more than enough time for an extra scene or two. What’s more, it’s said that once the initial run of fancy credits and the presumed mid-credits sequence have both finished, the regular text crawl starts at 2:53:17.
For those who choose to stick around for the mid-credits and post-credits scenes, there are a variety of future projects that the movie might tease. For one thing, Spider-Man: Far From Home is just a few months away from release, and according to producer Amy Pascal, the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel “will start a few minutes after Avengers 4 wraps as a story,” suggesting a close connection between the two films.
Alternatively, the Black Widow solo movie and The Eternals are both thought to be headed for cinemas next year, and with Disney Plus set to launch this November, perhaps Marvel will even take the opportunity to plug one of their small screen adventures. Then again, thinking more long-term, maybe the film will tease the next big bad or overarching storyline of the MCU’s next era. After all, we first saw Thanos in the mid-credits of 2012’s The Avengers.
In short, there are a lot of ways Marvel that could make use of Avengers: Endgame’s final minutes, but we’ll see what they went with when the film hits theaters on April 26th.
