Avengers: Endgame Star Robert Downey Jr. Shares Sweet Throwback Photo With Tom Holland

Earlier this month, you may recall that a new Avengers: Endgame trailer was released to coincide with tickets going on sale. While the preview gave us a fair amount to process, one moment that really hit the fans where it hurts was its clip of Tony Stark staring mournfully at a photo of himself and Peter Parker, the latter of whom sadly passed away in last year’s Avengers: Infinity War.

More recently, Robert Downey Jr. offered a sweet reminder of this moment in a Throwback Thursday Instagram post. Along with a behind-the-scenes photo from the day the trailer picture was taken, the Iron Man actor shared the following message:

“#tbt to simpler times… I love you kid…”

While Tom Holland’s character is little more than a pile of dust right now, it’s generally assumed that he’ll be coming back from the dead in next week’s release. After all, Spider-Man: Far From Home is just a few months away from hitting theaters, and producers Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige have both claimed the film takes place after the events of Endgame.

That being said, though a Peter Parker comeback seems inevitable, many fans are currently worried that his mentor Tony may soon suffer a sad fate, in which case, we’ll likely find that his demise isn’t so reversible. Either way, it’s widely predicted that the Infinity War sequel will serve as Iron Man’s final outing in the MCU, though there are surely some non-tragic ways in which he might make his exit. To offer one suggestion, perhaps he and Pepper will soon find themselves with a family to raise.

In any case, we’ll find out if Peter and Tony can at least have one last reunion when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th.
