The recent Avengers: Endgame trailer gave us much to love, with the reveal of the team’s new matching Quantum suits and that awesome meeting between Thor and Captain Marvel grabbing most of the attention. Even though we only glimpsed them for a single shot, however, a different unlikely pairing has captured fans’ hearts too: Rocket and War Machine, who are glimpsed going into battle together with the trash panda perched on Rhodey’s shoulder.
For some, that one wondrous sight justifies the entire three-hour runtime of the movie.
Me: Ugh, I keep hearing #AvengersEndgame is going to be three hours long. I don't want to see a three hour Avengers movie.

For others, the shot reminded them of the terrible truth that there ain’t any Guardians left for Rocket to park on the shoulder of anymore.
seeing rocket on rhodey’s shoulder reminded me that he’s the last guardian alive im- pic.twitter.com/qAla5mtwGR

But hey, maybe Rocket will prove to be an invaluable weapon in the war against Thanos. Now we really want Tony to tell the Mad Titan “we have a racoon” in Endgame.
Is it strange I am most excited about Rocket riding shotgun on Warmachine’s shoulder? I personally can’t think of a more destructive weapon.

Rocket’s traditionally seen piggybacking his buddy Groot, of course, but one fan reminded us that he also perched on Thor’s shoulder as well in Avengers: Infinity War.
y’all just gonna ignore how rocket was on thor’s shoulder in infinity war?? you mean.. tree shoulder to god shoulder to machine shoulder https://t.co/w434pGYf8m

This tweeter wins the internet for this one, though. Bravo.

Fans have also noted Rocket’s new outfit, as previously glimpsed in the TV spot. It’s a dead ringer for the character’s classic Guardians uniform in the comics. The MCU version of the team never went in for matching costumes, so it’s ironic – and a little heartbreaking – that Rocket’s finally sporting his comic-accurate look now that the rest of the group are no more.
Will Rocket and Rhodey be the new best pals we never knew we needed in Avengers: Endgame, though? We’ll find out when the movie event of the year hits cinemas on April 26th.
