Marvel Studios Will Announce More Movies After Avengers: Endgame

Once Avengers: Endgame drops in April and brings the first 11 years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to its point of culmination, the biggest question left on the minds of many fans will surely be, what’s next? Indeed, aside from July’s Spider-Man: Far From Home, Marvel Studios has yet to officially announce any further releases, and it sounds like we still have a few more months to wait until they do.

At a press event for Captain Marvel, ComicBook.com spoke to Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, who clarified that they won’t be laying out their schedule for 2020 and beyond until this year’s releases have all reached cinemas.

“As we’ve been doing for years, we aren’t going to announce anything post Avengers: Endgame or Spider-Man [Far From Home] until post Endgame and Spider-Man,” Feige said. “As you know as a fan, there’s a tremendous amount of potential and a tremendous amount of additional characters and storylines and groups of characters that we’re going to keep playing with. And again, that’s a testament to Marvel and to the amount of storylines and characters and amazing, amazing runs that have been in the Marvel comics.”

But while Feige isn’t quite ready to reveal Marvel’s future plans, he does say that the studio already has a pretty good idea of where they want the franchise to be in five or six years’ time, explaining:

“I don’t think we’ll be announcing five or six years, but we know sort of where we want to head in the next five or six years.”

When asked whether these plans will include standalone films, team-ups, or all-out ensembles, Feige simply replied, “All of the above,” leaving the details to our imagination.

All that being said, we’ve already seen quite a few reports that offer a vague idea of what’s next for the MCU. For one thing, it’s widely believed that 2020 will see the release of a Black Widow solo movie, followed by The Eternals. Beyond that, sequels for Black Panther and Doctor Strange have both been confirmed, along with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

With the Disney/Fox deal soon to come into effect, fans are also hoping that Marvel Studios will have some X-Men and Fantastic Four projects scheduled somewhere down the line. But before we find out what the future holds for the MCU, Avengers: Endgame will first be bringing this current era to a close when it hits theaters on April 26th, 2019.
