X-Men: Dark Phoenix has had a pretty bumpy journey to theaters, and that’s putting things lightly. The very premise of it – redoing a story we already saw on the big screen last decade – left many shrugging while the numerous delays to the release date and stories of production troubles dampened our excitement even further. And then, of course, there’s the fact that this will probably be the last ever entry in Fox’s X-Men franchise, as it’s about to be hoovered up by Disney.
All of that’s to say that Dark Phoenix isn’t exactly finding itself at the top of many people’s most-anticipated superhero movie of the year lists. It might just find itself at the top of a few worst movies of the year lists, though, if this new trailer is any indication of what’s in store. We hate to judge a book by its cover, but this latest preview for the flick is just seriously underwhelming, failing to offer up much worth getting excited about.
Not that the last trailer was much better, mind you, but what’s on display here likely won’t get too many people hyped up for Dark Phoenix, especially in a year which also sees the release of comic book movies such as Avengers: Endgame, Captain Marvel, Spider-Man: Far From Home and more.

Thankfully, then, as we mentioned above, DP will probably be the last mainline entry in Fox’s franchise before Disney takes over Fox and Marvel gets the rights back to the Children of the Atom. When that happens, we would imagine there’ll be some major recasting going on, which means Dark Phoenix should be the last time we see these actors in their roles.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix touches down in theaters on June 7th, 2019 and though we remain hopeful that it won’t be a total disaster, things certainly aren’t looking very good right now.
