Though Hugh Jackman has reaffirmed time and time again that he’s content to leave the role of Wolverine in the past, all it took was a single Google search result to get fans hopeful that the Logan star would be popping up in Avengers: Endgame.
If you haven’t been keeping track of this surprisingly popular piece of hearsay, late last month, it came to the attention of the internet that searching the exact term “famous Hugh Jackman movies” brings up a carousel of films that featuring the actor, one of which is the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War sequel.
From here, fans have drawn the conclusion that Jackman might have a role in 2019’s biggest blockbuster, and while you may be wondering why exactly Marvel Studios would share spoilers with Google, and why Google in turn would leak this info to the public, apparently enough people bought into this line of reasoning that MCU Cosmic’s Jeremy Conrad felt the need to offer a refutation.
The Marvel fan and frequent leaker’s new post explains that Google’s results are simply based on what they find from crawling web pages, and that the unexpected inclusion of Endgame in Jackman’s filmography is the result of trolls deliberately messing with the results. Conrad goes on to speculate that Google may have taken its information from a recent edit on Wikipedia, since Jackman’s page falsely claimed for a a period of time that the actor will be be playing “Wdam Warlock” in a “Post credit seen” of the Russo Brothers’ next film.
Needless to say, this new rumor is not worth taking seriously, but we’ll find out if Avengers: Endgame has any surprise appearances lined up when the film hits theaters on April 26th, 2019.
