9 New Halloween Photos Tease The Return Of Michael Myers

The other week, director John Carpenter teased that the new David Gordon Green-directed Halloween is the best of the series since the 1978 original, and based on the early reviews coming out of TIFF for the Blumhouse production, he just might be correct.

At the time of writing, Rotten Tomatoes currently has the percentage of positive reviews for the film at a very impressive 83%, based on the opinions of 40 critics. For the most part, everyone seems to be largely in agreement that Green’s managed to deliver a modern update of the long-running slasher series that does the property justice.

Co-writer Danny McBride has already expressed his hope that the movie doesn’t ruin too many childhoods, and while critical acclaim and fan adulation don’t always come hand in hand (see: Star Wars: The Last Jedi), these early reviews are about as good a forecast as we could hope for at this stage.

Just in case that isn’t enough to get you hyped, though, Universal has now debuted 9, yes 9 new photos from the film to prepare fans for the return of the one and only Michael Myers. Oddly enough, he doesn’t actually feature in any of these shots, but they’re a nice mix of behind the scenes pics and stills taken from the movie itself, and you can check them all out in the gallery below.

Honestly, we couldn’t be more hyped for Halloween right now if we wanted to be. The original is one of the greatest horror movies ever and still stands up to this day (if you’re skeptical, just check out the amazing opening scene). The sequel, meanwhile, sounds like it’s set to do justice to Carpenter’s classic, taking what made it so special and bringing it to life in 2018.

Plus, the work put into it from Nick Castle (the original Michael), a new John Carpenter score and, of course, Jamie Lee Curtis returning to the role of Laurie Strode are all huge plusses. At this point, all we can say is roll on October 19th!
