Earlier today, Quentin Tarantino found his Roman Polanski in Rafal Zawierucha and now, the two-time Academy Award winner has finally filled the role we’ve all been waiting for: Charles Manson. According to Cinema Blend (H/T The Wrap), Damon Herriman, star of Justified and Incorporated, has landed the part of the infamous serial killer in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
Currently, the extent of Herriman’s role is unknown, but, seeing as a majority of his work has taken place on the small screen, this will undoubtedly be the most significant production of which he’s ever been apart. Joining Herriman on the non-fiction side of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is Rumer Willis (Joanna Pettet), Dreama Walker (Connie Stevens) and Costa Ronin (Voytek Frykowski). Margaret Qualley (The Nice Guys), Madisen Beaty (The Fosters) and Victoria Pedretti have also come aboard.
Over the duration of the summer, auteur Quentin Tarantino has been assembling quite the ensemble for his ninth full-length feature behind the camera. In June, the Knoxville, Tennessee native added Golden Globe winner Damian Lewis (Homeland), Emile Hirsch (Into the Wild) and Dakota Fanning (War of the Worlds) to the flick. A day later, meanwhile, it was revealed Tarantino had secured 1993’s Best Actor in a Leading Role, Al Pacino (Scent of a Woman) to join the likes of Margot Robbie and a plethora of others.
Set against the backdrop of 1969 Los Angeles, precisely “during the Helter Skelter reign of terror,” Once Upon a Time in Hollywood will shadow Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio), a TV western actor, and Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt), his stunt double, as they “embark on an odyssey to make a name for themselves.” A July 26th, 2019 release date has been set and as soon as we receive any further updates, we’ll be sure to let you know.
