Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Crew Were Reportedly Asked To Stop Bashing The Last Jedi

It’s been nearly two years since Star Wars: The Last Jedi made its way into theaters, scoring strong reviews and going on to become the ninth-highest-grossing movie of all time. Yet, for a lot of people, it’s a bit of a black sheep, often breaking away from many of the familiar aspects of the franchise and taking some bold steps forward which rubbed many fans the wrong way.

In fact, it’s not only the fans who weren’t on board with the Rian Johnson’s divisive film, as it seems many of the crew members who worked on the project also felt unsure of some of the creative choices the director made. A new rumor over on 4chan – in other words, take this with a grain of salt – says that there was so much bashing of The Last Jedi on the set of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker that Lucasfilm had to ask the production team to stop criticizing it.

Though intriguing to hear, it must be said that 4chan is hardly the most reliable source of intel and even though this supposedly comes from someone who worked on Episode IX, we’d approach it with caution. Then again, it’s not exactly hard to believe given that we’ve come across similar rumors in the past.

Regardless, J.J. Abrams, who co-wrote and helmed the final entry in the mainline saga, recently told us that he no longer feels beholden to the franchise and intends on charting a bold new course ahead. That’s certainly exciting to hear, and with any luck, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will go down smoother than its predecessor when it lands in theaters on December 20th and hopefully closes out the Skywalker Saga on a high.
