Playtime Is Over In New TV Spot For Child’s Play

If you’re a fan of horror films, you might want to pay attention to the next couple of months. Aside from It: Chapter Two – whose debut trailer is sure to keep you up at night – Orion Pictures and United Artists Releasing are teaming up to bring us Child’s Play, a complete reboot of the 1988 film of the same name. Directed by Lars Klevberg and produced by Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg, this reimagining will not see any involvement from series creator Don Mancini.

In fact, it seems the creative team is looking to eschew tradition across the board, seeing as how Brad Dourif – who’s played the role of murderous doll Chucky in every installment to date – will not be returning to lend his voice acting chops. Instead, that part’s been given to veteran actor Mark Hamill, which many will know for playing Luke Skywalker. While he certainly propelled himself to stardom thanks to his appearance in the Star Wars franchise, Hamill has also seen success as a voice actor, best known for portraying the Joker in a handful of Batman animated cartoons, films, and even a few video games.

Leading up to the movie’s release, Orion has teased fans with a handful of creepy posters and a few promotional clips. In a recently released TV spot, dubbed “Playtime” though, you can catch a glimpse at the murderous doll in action, as he terrorizes his owner, Andy Barclay (Gabriel Bateman) and the young boy’s mother (Aubrey Plaza).

If the lead-up to release hasn’t already scared you off, you’ll be glad to know that you won’t have to wait much longer to see Chucky in action, as Child’s Play is set to hit theaters on June 21st.
