Here’s How Avengers: Endgame Paves The Way For The New Avengers

Avengers: Endgame is the end of the road for many of the OG heroes, but the movie certainly sows the seeds for the next generation of Avengers, just as Kevin Feige has previously hinted was the plan. The major way it does this is by moving the franchise forward five years, allowing some key young characters to have grown up in that time. So, with that in mind, let’s have a look at the future Avengers it might have introduced us to.

The most obvious is Cassie Lang. When Ant-Man emerges from the Quantum Realm, he discovers that his daughter is now a teenager. As he hugs her, he says: “you’ve gotten so big.” This has to be a tease that actress Emma Fuhrman is about to take on the alter ego of Stature, as Cassie does in the comics.

Meanwhile, Clint Barton’s daughter Lyla is an original creation for the screen, and she’s currently a little young for hero work, but there’s a strong hint that she’ll succeed her father in time. In the film’s opening scene, she shows off her prowess with a bow and arrow and Clint high fives her, calling her “Hawkeye.” It’s possible Lyla will become a stand-in for Kate Bishop. Clint’s protege and the inheritor of the Hawkeye mantle in the comics.

This seems a more left-field idea, but it’s possible that Tony and Pepper’s daughter Morgan might grow up to follow in her dad (and mom’s) footsteps. She could be an MCU version of Ironheart, the teen heroine who takes after Iron Man on the page. We also have to wonder if Harley’s silent cameo at Tony’s funeral, his first appearance since Iron Man 3, was to set up a bigger role to come. Now that he’s much older, he wouldn’t be a bad fit for an alternate take on Iron Lad.

We Got This Covered has already reported that Marvel is working on a movie based on the Young Avengers comics team, though it appears to be being developed with the title New Avengers. Based on the evidence of Avengers: Endgame, it definitely seems like introducing a whole new generation of heroes is a priority for Marvel.
