With Annabelle 3 just over three months away from release, Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema have waited a surprisingly long time to reveal the official title of the upcoming horror threequel, but it seems that they’re finally ready for the grand unveiling.
As of today, it’s been revealed that the demonic doll’s third standalone will be called Annabelle Comes Home. This appropriately ominous title was announced by the film’s official Twitter account in a post that also includes a short teaser. The 11-second video may not offer any actual footage, but it does create an unnerving atmosphere thanks to its tinkly toy box music and a creepy laugh that sounds like it’s echoing from the next room.
But going back to that title, Annabelle Comes Home is a fitting name for an entry that brings us full circle back to the house of Ed and Lorraine Warren. After making her big screen debut in 2013’s The Conjuring, Annabelle has been given two prequels that explore the doll’s backstory before she became a fixture in the Warrens’ artifacts room. This next film, however, will see Annabelle causing trouble in the couple’s house, creating a night of terror for their daughter Judy, played by Mckenna Grace.
Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson will also be reprising their roles as Lorraine and Ed, respectively, while Madison Iseman will play Judy’s babysitter Mary Ellen. The film was reportedly pitched as the horror version of Night at the Museum, and you can judge for yourself if Annabelle Comes Home lives up to that quirky description when it arrives in theaters on June 28th. After that, Judy’s parents return to the spotlight when The Conjuring 3 comes out on September 11th, 2020.
