By now, the internet has been given plenty of time to scrutinize the latest trailer for Avengers: Endgame that dropped earlier this month. And in their frame by frame analysis of the footage, fans have managed to spin some outlandish theories that may not always be very plausible, but at least get points for creativity.
One Reddit user, for instance, picked up on a mere house number on display in the background of a single shot, and used it as the basis for a couple of wild suggestions. The number in question is 1064, which features in the scene where Scott Lang is looking at missing posters with a look of confusion on his face. The theory goes that this number is a reference to The Avengers #10, which came out in 1964. And after that considerable leap in logic, it’s observed that this issue marked the first appearance of Immortus, a character who’s known for time traveling.
From here, it’s argued that the number might be hinting that Ant-Man has emerged from the Quantum Realm in a different era or an alternate reality. And on top of that, it’s speculated that Nathaniel Richards, or even his son Reed from the Fantastic Four, might help him get back to the right time and place.
Putting aside the fact that the Fox/Disney deal only just closed last week – making it more or less out of the question that Endgame will contain Fantastic Four characters – this theory still seems like a pretty huge stretch, but you have to give it some credit for originality. In any case, a house number is usually just a house number, but if the Russo Brothers really are teasing something deeper here, then we’ll probably find out what they’re hinting at when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th.
