Though the first teasers for Star Wars: Episode IX and The Mandalorian may be at least another month away (yes, we’re looking at you, Star Wars Celebration), the internet has still managed to yield a little more footage from that other major Star Wars event of 2019, the theme park expansion Galaxy’s Edge.
As you’ll see below, the area is currently looking like a fan’s dream, down to the subtlest details. Amidst some finely constructed décor, the drone footage manages to get us close to several Resistance starfighters and a speeder, not to mention the Millennium Falcon. As you may know already, visitors will even be able to pilot the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy as part of the Smuggler’s Run ride, which, like the rest of the area, will be canon to the franchise.

The rocky landscape we’re looking at has been labeled as the planet Batuu, and comes with its own official backstory. Once the area opens later in the year, the place will be bustling with activity from smugglers, Resistance fighters and First Order goons, and will boast an array of shops and eateries, each of them loyal to the story of the fictional region. The area will also eventually be home to a ride named Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, which is set to be a hugely ambitious and immersive experience that invites visitors to join the rebellion.
Overall, you can expect guests to show up in droves for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge when it opens in Disneyland, California, on May 31st, before coming to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, on August 29th.
