Captain Marvel Comic May Explain Where Carol Was Before Avengers: Endgame

With Captain Marvel just over a couple of weeks away from release, the fans are on the verge of finally getting answers to some of their biggest questions, one of the most frequently asked being, why did Nick Fury go two decades without giving his old friend Carol Danvers a call? Executive producer Jonathan Schwartz has already assured us that we’ll find out when the film hits theaters, but if you can’t wait that long, MCU Cosmic has shared a rumored explanation that offers an interesting and perfectly plausible answer.

The report from Jeremy Conrad draws on an old excerpt from the Captain Marvel Prelude comic in which Fury tells Maria Hill, “If we do our job, we’ll never be in a position of having to call her,” the “her” in this sentence of course being Captain Marvel. According to the latest hearsay, Nick means exactly what he says, in that he allegedly agreed to only use his pager if his plan for defending Earth (i.e. the Avengers Initiative) ever failed.

The report also relays word that Captain Marvel has spent the last two decades in the far reaches of space, ensuring that the Kree-Xandar peace treaty was being honored while also acting as a buffer protecting Earth from further invasions. This explanation ties in with Ronan’s continued resentment towards the Xandarians in Guardians of the Galaxy, while also clarifying why Thanos used a portal to reach Earth in 2012’s The Avengers instead of launching a full scale invasion.

Again, it’s yet to be seen whether there’s any truth to these claims, but we’ll find out soon enough when Captain Marvel comes out on March 8th, 2019.
