Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Comic Offers New Information On The Disney Attraction

Though Episode IX will soon demand a marketing push of its own, Disney currently has all hands at the pump in anticipation of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, the lavish theme park attraction that’s said to blast visitors into that famous galaxy far, far away for a full 28 minutes.

A late 2019 launch is on the cards, and while the Powers That Be are keeping things under wraps for the time being, a new post over on StarWars.com (h/t CBM) offers some insight into the Galaxy’s Edge attraction, courtesy of writer Ethan Sacks.

He’s the brains behind the five-issue Galaxy’s Edge comic, which shares some connective tissue with the Disney ride in that it’s largely set in Black Spire Outpost, the planet’s largest settlement and “an infamous stop for traders, adventurers, and smugglers traveling around the Outer Rim and Wild Space.”

Alongside the interview, Lucasfilm debuted a sneak peek at Dok-Ondar (see below), a character designed by Karl Lindberg and Iain McCaig who will be making his debut when the first issue of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge hits store shelves in April.

As the name suggests, Galaxy’s Edge is perched on the far-flung frontier of the Star Wars universe, and chronicles “what happens when the First Order reaches the edge of wild space.” But there’s hope to be found in past Star Wars adventures, as Lucasfilm teased in its official post.

The key to saving this lawless outpost might just involve a job pulled long ago by none other than Han Solo and his cohort Chewbacca.

Perhaps Han and Chewie ran an old job soon after they escaped from Vandor-1? It’s too soon to know for sure, but with the first issue of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge set to premiere in April, we’ll soon have some answers to the galaxy’s biggest questions. Stay tuned for more.
