With the new Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer finally dropping this morning, the old question has emerged once more of when the film takes place in relation to Avengers: Infinity War and its upcoming sequel Avengers: Endgame.
As you likely recall, Anthony and Joe Russo’s last film saw the death of Peter Parker, making the very existence of a Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel a potential spoiler on the events of Endgame. But while some fans have been clinging to the possibility that Far From Home is set before Infinity War, MCU Cosmic leaker Jeremy Conrad took it upon himself to clear the air, tweeting that Peter’s next solo outing is set “Minutes after Endgame.”
Indeed, while Tom Holland has refused to answer the question of whether Far From Home is set before or after Infinity War, producer Amy Pascal gave the game away back in 2017 in an interview with Fandom, when she said that the next Spider-Man film “will start a few minutes after Avengers 4 wraps as a story.”
The other producer of Far From Home, Kevin Feige, made similar statements last April, when he told IGN that the film explores what it’s like to “try to go back to a normal life after what happens in [Avengers: Infinity War]? Not to mention what happens in the next [Avengers] movie.”
Incidentally, an article from Vanity Fair last month hinted at disagreements between Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures over the release of Far From Home, with Sony insisting on a 2019 release date despite Marvel’s worries that the movie would spoil the events of the Infinity War sequel. Regardless, Avengers: Endgame will be revealing all its secrets when the film hits theaters on April 26th, before Spider-Man: Far From Home shows us what’s next for the wall-crawler when it comes out on July 5th.
