Perera Fireworks Fail to Stop New Zealand from Capturing Series

All-rounder Thisara Perera gave New Zealand an almighty scare scoring a whirlwind maiden ODI hundred off just 57 balls en route to scoring 140 off 74 balls as he single-handedly kept Sri Lanka in the hunt to chase down 320 in the second ODI at Mount Maunganui on Saturday (December 5). It was sweet revenge for Thisara, who was hammered for five sixes in an over by James Neesham in the first ODI, as he rained sixes — 13 of them — on the Kiwis before a brilliant Trent Boult catch at long-on, meant Lanka went down by 21 runs in the second ODI after getting bowled out for 298 in 46.2 overs.
