Analysts Already Projecting $2 Billion Gross For Avengers: Endgame

A lot could happen in the next four-and-a-half months, but so far, it doesn’t take a box office analyst to predict a phenomenal run in theaters for Avengers: Endgame, with the film’s long-awaited first teaser already beating the record set by Avengers: Infinity War for most views of a single trailer.

Still, if you want an authoritative opinion on the matter, CNBC has relayed word from BoxOffice.com’s chief analyst Shawn Robbins, who laid out his projections as follows:

“There are always caveats to forecasts this far out from release, but we think it’s another strong candidate for $600 million or more domestically, and possibly $2 billion worldwide.”

To put this into perspective, the world-conquering Infinity War took in a reported total of over $678 million domestically and $2.048 billion worldwide, which means that this new Endgame forecast suggests a similar level of success. Robbins went on to elaborate a little his predictions, observing the mass hype around next year’s release and its recent teaser.

“The stakes have been raised organically, and the slow reveal surrounding Endgame only intensifies curiosity,” he added. “We’re talking about the safest box office bet since ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ itself and the recent episodic ‘Star Wars’ films.”

Box Office Analyst president Doug Stone also observed the lack of major competition around Endgame, arguing that another significant big-budget contender won’t be entering the field until Godzilla: King of the Monsters in late May, giving the Russo Brothers’ flick four weeks to dominate.

No doubt the analysts will be offering plenty of updates on the above forecasts as the release date approaches, but unless something big and surprising comes our way next year to stomp all over Endgame’s chances, you can expect future projections to be at least as optimistic.

In any case, Avengers: Endgame has some high expectations to live up to, both in terms of quality and commercial performance, but we’ll find out if it can match the hype when the film hits theaters on April 26th, 2019. In the meantime, Captain Marvel looks on course to be a pretty big hit itself when it arrives on March 8th.
