Though it’s been more than seven years now since the Harry Potter series ended its cinematic run, these fantastical films have lost little of their pop culture clout, remaining a subject of obsession and devotion for Potterheads across the world. But while fans continue to take pride in knowing every detail of these eight cinematic outings, Tom Felton has left the movies virtually untouched since he filmed his last scene as Draco Malfoy.
Speaking to PEOPLE, the actor admitted that he’s never once watched a Harry Potter film outside of their premieres. But while you may think it’s only natural that Felton would feel a little shy about revisiting his teen years, the star’s own explanation is that he’s saving these flicks for a special occasion, like when he shows them to his kids one day.
“I have seen the Potter films during the premieres, but other than that no — never! I’m saving that for a sacred day,” said Felton. “I have visions of doing that with my two kids, when I’m a little bit older.”
Just think of this vision as the ending flash-forward of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 if J. K. Rowling had chosen to get really meta at the last minute.
Since Felton apparently hasn’t spent these last few years re-watching two-and-a-half-hour films, he’s had plenty of time to create a pretty successful post-Potter career for himself, with his latest screen outing being the YouTube Premium sci-fi series Origin.
Meanwhile, the Wizarding World continues to yield new stories, with Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald hitting cinemas just recently and doing pretty well for itself at the box office. Still, given the mixed response this sequel received from critics, it’s unlikely that Harry Potter fans will be revisiting this one as compulsively as they do the original eight.
