Ezra Miller Promises That The Flash Movie Will Be Crazy Dope

Ezra Miller was first cast as Barry Allen AKA The Flash in the DC movie universe – then known as the DCEU, now christened Worlds of DC – back in 2014 and since then, we’ve seen him cameo in both Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad as well as in a bigger role as part of the ensemble in Justice League. If the original plan had gone ahead, though, we would have seen him lead his own solo movie by now as well.

Though it’s been hit with numerous delays, The Flash film is still very much on the way, according to Miller, and he’s got a lot of faith that it’s going to live up to the long wait fans have had to see the Scarlet Speedster get his own cinematic vehicle. While talking to Playboy, the star promised that the movie is going to be “crazy dope” and urged us to trust that it’s coming along nicely.

“Nothing is ever certain in this world, but as certain as things get, we’re making a f*cking crazy-dope Flash movie. It’s one of my great life dreams, and just the fact that we’re on the way—anyone who knows about Barry Allen knows he may arrive late, very late, but once he gets there, it’s all solved. We have to trust.”

Miller’s description of the movie is pretty ironic, as The Flash was once set to be directed by Dope‘s Rick Famuyiwa before he ultimately walked away due to creative differences. Others who’ve been attached for a time include Seth Grahame-Smith and Phil Lord and Chris Miller (no relation). DC seem to have found a pair of keepers, though, in Game Night‘s Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley.

Ditching the previously-announced Flashpoint angle, Goldstein and Daley have promised a grounded, fun movie about Miller’s Barry Allen, likely with some similarity with their script for Marvel’s Spider-Man: HomecomingWith everything finally in place, The Flash is heading before the cameras next February, which could mean a release date in 2020. And hopefully it’ll be just as “crazy dope” as Miller says it is when it finally arrives.
